View Full Version : Alligator
Has anyone else seen this classic? If so, does anyone know if it's gonna get an American DVD release? I e-mailed Anchor Bay about them releasing it and it's sequel on a double feature DVD like they did in the UK, but have gotten no answer. But this movie is great, it's my personal favorite killer animal movie besides Jaws and Grizzly. SPOILERS: The wedding scene was great, where the gator is eating everyone. I think the version I saw was cut, pretty bad too. I saw the Catalina video, it cuts the blood in the pool scene, edits almost all the profanity, definately reduced gore, and the scene where Brock is eaten is intact though, it's pretty cool. I'd buy the R2 Anchor Bay DVD but don't have a multiregion DVD player. I hear it's great. Guess I'll just have to deal with my DVD-R recorded from the Catalina video until someone decides to do something. It's still a great movie. Too bad the sequel was somewhat of a disappointment....

I think this is a very good movie. I feel the same way about it's sequel.

I agree with you Bear. Alligator is near the top of my favorite killer creatures movies. Some of my other favs include: Jaws, Them!, The Birds, Pirahna, Frogs (those lizards in the greenhouse always crack me up with their facial expressions), etc. Alligator is my favorite of the killer reptile movies. The wedding scene is great and so is the pool scene. I own the UK Anchor Bay 2-Disc Set which is great. The commentary is a great listen and it's great to finally own both movies, even though the second one is nowhere near the first. I haven't heard any plans on an American release yet but i hope they do.

I love this movie. One of my favorite animal-run-amok movies. Plus alligators are just interesting.

i love this movie, and have since i was a little kid when it first came out... i used to have the alligator game...they had this and a jaws one.... and i have been awaiting a dvd for so long... so many movies have been released to dvd that wasnt even close to what this one is.... my only hope is that when it does come out it is a kick ass special edition with lots of extras.... and as even though i dont make a practice of wanting remakes... this one could use updated cause there is so much stuff they could do better now...
They had an Alligator game? I have a Jaws one for NES(lots of fun) but if there was such a game what system was it for? I'd love to play it.

Alligator cool flick for sure, Im glad I still have my dub of the original VHS tape. The Sci-Fi channel cuts this film to shreds every time they show it....sad! I hope that a company like Blue Underground gets the rights for a DVD release, they are a kick ass company.
Maybe we should get a petition going? What do you schmoes think? :)
I'm all for the petition,BTW dead one, I should have UR The Car DVD made soon, ok?

it was not a video game... it was a plastic alligator, and you opened its mouth, and threw the objects that came with it in its mouth, tvs, garbage cans and other sewer related items... if your object made its mouth shut...u lost that round... not a very awesome game... but i wish i still had it none the less...
Oh, that sucks. I thought it was a video game. But memorabilia is memorabilia, so my hunt begins. BTW, does anyone know where I can find the Grizzly rubber bear toy?
