This thread exists to talk mainly about you and your music… and stuff.

Where do you get your influences? What instrument do you play? Name off the tech specs of your instrument. What kind of rig do you have with what peddles? Are you in a band? Then explain about it… what kind of music do you play? Can you post up some music?

I’ll start…

I have three electric guitars, Fender strat, MIA 1994, with fender-lace sensor gold rigged in the neck pickup (sunburst five colors), peavey raptor all stock (sunburst three colors) (my first guitar, sentimental value, worth about fifty bucks), and I have a Johnson bass guitar with Seymour Duncan Flea pickups (black, white pick-guard). One acoustic guitar, Martin classic vintage style 000 ??

I play the guitar, bass, drums, piano, cello, upright bass, and now I’m starting to play the trumpet. (Don't have one yet, but I'll buy one soon)

I get my influences from many different artists… John Frusciante, Michael Balzary, Hendrix, Radio head, Chad Smith, Mitch Mitchell, Kurt Kobain, Dave Grohl, Smashing pumpkins, David Bowie, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Summon and Garfunkel, Elton John, The Beatles, THE DOORS, Eric Clapton, The Who, Led Zeppelin, BB King, RHCP, RAGE, Anthony Kedis, Muddy Waters, Pink Floyd, Rob Wassermann… If there are any more, can’t think of them right now.

My rig: For bass guitar: Marshal Bass-State series with B150 105Q CRYBABY BASS WAH Pedal, and turbo bass synthesizer.

For Guitar: Ibanez Wha wha, to a Boss fuzz, to boss DS2, to phase mixer90, to Roland ceo-chorus ensemble, to Marshall major 200-watt to one s type 4x12 speaker (stock Celestion Speaker)

I jam with many different groups, mainly Hammer Down, we play hard rock. I sometimes do some solo gigs around Mesa and Tempe, but not recently to date. I play bass for them, all ten fingers… I don’t use pick on the bass because I’m not a wuss. Personally, I like to play classic rock styles when I play solo gigs, half-electric, and half acoustic. Recently started getting into the 40’s blues era, starting some new stuff from it, if I can, I’ll try to post some of my music soon.

What about you guys? Come on, don’t be shy…

I BADLY want a Telecaster, but I'm poor. Maybe for my birthday or Christmas.

Right now, I have an Ibanez G10 and an Epiphone Gibson. They're not modded in anyway and the only pdeal I have right now is the Ibanez DE7 Delay, which is sweeeeeeet.

Influences..... errrm. I'm a big fan of Jonny Greenwood's style and also Graham Coxon, John Frusciante, Billy Corgan, Matt Bellamy, Johnny Marr...

I haven't taken the time to learn guitar theory and scales and modes and blah. blah, blah, though I think I'm alright still. Haven't written or recorded anything.

I have a Hamer guitar. It's the same body as Hetfield's guitar.

I have a Boss distortion pedal.

I have a Crate digital amp, which I don't like at all.

I just jam to music. Or I just doodle.

I play jazz music(prewar stuff. Dixieland, ragtime, stomps..) on guitar but I used to be really into a lot of crap. Well, its great to listen to, but its really shite to play, which I think is a huge problem with a lot of people. I play piano, too and I'm okay with an accordian. I want to learn banjo, though. that's my next project. I listen to a lot of contemporary music, but my big complaint with it is that its all very.. well, stupid. There's nothing around that makes you prick your ears and "what the fuck?!?!" and that sucks. Eddie Lang is a huge influence.. so are coleman Hawkins, Doc Boggs, Bix BEiderbecke and Lonnie Johnson. Heh, influence. I do my very best to IMITATE them at every turn, which is all well and good.
Of course, everyone wants to be heard. If I can make a living playing then that would be a dream come true.

My frist guitar was, luckily enough, a Korean Tele, which I beat to FUCK. I used to play it on a Fender Princeton chorus amp. Big fucker: 2 12', eight thousand million watts. Left a lot to be desired, though. Really, I played the HELL out of it and I got REALLY sick of electric guitars.

I've had a few since then,... a lot actually, because I feel the need to constantly switch up guitars. Right now I've got a Gitane DG500, which is really the most beautiful goddamned thing in the world. the strings need to be ordered from away, though and they cost a lot of fucking money.

I'm a BIG theory person and in the long run, its really the only way to play with other people. Saves you a lot of headaches. I'm currently playing with an eighty year old violinist and we rip the FUCK out of the universe. Seriously, the man still plays like he's twenty and he's a joy to listen to. We mostly play standards and old rag songs, which I'm very happy about. Not to sound arrogant, but playing with old people is REALLY the only way to go. They're generally less interested in becoming rich and famous and they actually KNOW their stuff, which is a far cry from a bunch of shreddies waiting around to play their eight bars of glooory..

Me? I play bass, guitar, and some piano. Mostly I play guitar with the band Im in, and we play mostly Metal and Rock covers; Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and such. It's not going very well as the other guitarist and the singer is pushing things a bit too fast.Anyway, this is my gear:

Bass: Black Yamaha RBX-170 bass and a Hartke 15W amp. An OK kit, but not to play in a band with.

Guitar: A Gibson SG Special , Wine red, with a Kustom Quad DFX 65W amplifier. Also a Vox Tonelab for effects. This is a good, solid kit. Well, at least it works for me! :)

Piano: None, that was a looooong time ago..

Influences include Malcolm Young, Jaymz (), Miika Tenkula, Jason Newsted and Steve Harris. Also a bit Clapton but not much.

I couldn’t agree more, Sometimes I jam with this 30 some-ott guy who I hardly know… I don’t even know his name (think its Joe, but not sure), but he can rip the hell out of his ax like no other person I’ve seen in a long time. My little confined group that I call a band, calls him the fridge guy... apparently he came over to fix my friends fridge and saw his drum kit, and my friends amps, in the middle of the kitchen and made it very clear that he played guitar. After he got done fixing the problem, my friend Brian invited him to jam for a bit and ever since then we've jammed together for hours upon hours of fun. He's really good and he also doesn’t care to make it big either, and I’ll use the over-used, underrated quote of the century, ‘its all about the music’... fugazi style.

I posted some old pictures of myself playing awhile back but I since have new gear.
Amp
Marshall Half Stack

Guitars
Gibson SG standard (EMG 81/85)
Gibson SG special (Iommi/Dimebucker)
Gibson Les Paul standard (Alnico II)

Influences: Zakk Wylde, Slash, Angus Young, Neil Young, Billy Corgan, Billy Howerdel, Randy Rhoads.... the list could go on

I play in two bands right now. A country/blues band with my uncle and a metal/experimental band. I also do solo work.

I'm getting a new camera soon so I'll post some pics of my gear. I'll be in debt for a long time now!
