The #1 guy, I would just love to sit down with for like 10hrs, and talking movie making with would be Robert Rodriguez. While he IS a whore to technology, he's hands on, and does everything. I would love to pick his brain over shot comp, setups, editing choices, and all the gooey insides of movie making. He's the man.

While I love Michael Bay, I think I'd wanna learn from someone less... intense.

Davin Goyer looks like he has a great personality on the Blade Trinity DVD featurettes. That guy seems like he'd be a really cool guy to hang out and pick up a few pointers from.

But Robert Rodregez would probably be the best teacher you can have. From what I've seen on his DVDs, he doesn't really do anything different from other directors, he's just very, very organized.

Directors:
1) Luis Buñuel (R.I.P.)
2) David Lynch
3) Alejandro Jodorowsky
4) David Cronenberg

As you can probably tell i think Director and Writer shouldnt be separated roles if situation allows, also from the same style i love acting its not as stellar as lets say a straight drama, i respect truly amazing actors and what they can bring to a movie but i honestly feel Directors should bring more, if only because i feel originality is a bigger priority than sheer acting talent.
