A surreal, obscure Dutch production about nefarious septuplets who must find and impregnate their sister in order to resurrect a crystallized demon fetus in a jar. Yeah. The Johnsons is surprisingly unnerving in spots. Most genre junkies chide this fitful oddity, but no one can deny that the premise is fresh. The acting is competent (if you're watching the subtitled version, that is), the gore is impudent, the visuals are out there, and the characters are likeable enough. It's nowhere near perfect (in all actuality, it would only rate as a 3-Chocula affair), but if you enjoy foraging through bizarro bibelots that the horror community has forgotten, The Johnsons is right up your anal fistula.

This always seems to be the case with this movie, every review I've read on this movie says it's decent, but lacks the bang to make the potential fully realized.

The movie at least sounds interesting, I'll give it a look if I can find it before I forget.
