I taught it would be interesting since I started the thread the worst movie of all time to start another one on the best of all time. Again, plz limit your choice to 1 movie... or a tie between 2-3 movies.

Mine is

The best movie I've ever seen is...Hitchcock's "Vertigo." Filmmaking craft hasn't been more perfect, acting more brilliantly daring, storytelling has rarely been riskier, and film scoring more exhilarating. Many of Hitch's films are more readily entertaining; none are more seductive or spellbinding. A real work of art.

Citizen Kane is the best movie ever made.

It might not be my favorite, but everything since is made in its shadow.

Disagree if you like, you're probably wrong if there's some deity keeping objective track on such things. Who knows.

The Sandlot. It may not have Oscar written all over it, but it doesnt need it. It is a film I love, and could watch a thousan times, and,........well, its just the best!

Let me give you the line of the movies that redefine the american cinema.

1- Birth of a Nation (1914) David W. Griffith
2- Citizen Kane (1941) Orson Welles
3- 2001, A Space Odyssey (1968) Stanley Kubrick

Citizen Kane is, with no daubt, groundbreaking. But 2001 push the enveloppe further again.

I'm happy to see the persons I have the most respect for on this board have the same favorite movie as mine. 2001. That's you QUENTIN and Fergus. La Dolce Vita and Taxi Driver all sit around my favorites as well. Althought my favorite Fellini is 8 1/2.

(still waiting for someone to say Underground hehe. My hopes are low)

There are 3 movies that always stick out in my mind as being the best... the best at least of those I have seen. I am yet to see CK and 2001... shame on me!

- CASABLANCA (1942)

- IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946)

- THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939)

As am I. Although I didnt see the entire thing. I remember though, it had some young actor who I had seen recently in a different film, and in this one he played a kind of nerdy guy, right?? And they are at some kind of convention, and they keep trying to meet with this one guy, and they finally meet, but the kid just talks to him and doesnt try to do buisness with him. Im sorry, I dont know if that made any sense; just trying to see if I go it right.

I saw it too, although I don't think that it was really great, it was just very good. It took what could've been a boring play put on film, and made it compelling. All three main leads: Spacey, DeVito, and Facinelli (who was in the terrible Supernova) all did marvelous jobs in their parts. Their speeches towards the end of the film about religion, I found ithem to be quite interesting (although I can't remember what they were at this moment). I found it good, yet, it suffered from being a play that was transformed into a movie.

Well, even though I can never come up with an accurate top ten list, my favorite film will always remain the same.

And that film is.....

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000051YMQ.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

In my opinion, this is the greatest war film ever made. It shows the true meaning of the words "courage" and "bravery". The film is filled with emotion, and makes me cry every time I see it. And the way the film ends is so heartbreaking, but beautiful. It's directed brilliantly by Edward Zwick, and wonderfully acted by the entire cast. Glory is my pick as the best film of all time, and hopefully, it will remain that way.

PLEASE READ

OK, So I posted my three way tie. But what if I was to see an AMAZING movie tomorrow, and think it's better than one of the ones I said? So then I go and change the absolute best movie of all time in one second? Maybe. But its impossible to say the abosolute best movie of all time, in my opinion, because that means you would have to have seen every other movie ever made (in proper english terms anyway). So in turn it seems to suit the thread much better if you say Most Favorite movie of all time.

Just a simple idea that makes more sense.

Well, usually the movie you consider the best of all time stay for a while. I consider 2001, A Space Odyssey the best movie ever made since I'm 15. But it ain't my favorite movie ever. My favorite have changed quite alot during the years. But now I consider Underground to be my favorite movie and 2001 to be the best movie.

I think it would take a really revolutionary movie to make me change my mind on 2001.
