one of my fellow horror nuts at work said it was his fav scary movie and still to this day creeps him out...I tried to find info on it but all I could get was the Others with Nichole Kidman on the net..and a few places had the poster and lil summary but no review...I know its about twin boys and one goes crazy or something to that effect and everyone says its super creepy and ahead of its time....is it worth looking for..or should I stick with The Others in my DVD collection and call it a day....if its as good as everyone says...i need to add it on my christmas list for killer santa....so let me know!

The Other is based on a book by Tom Tryon and it's not really scary, but very unnerving and disturbing. It reminded me of a dark Little House on the Prairie episode. The acting is solid, especially from the twin boys who play the main characters. AMC sometimes will air this on Friday nights.

That is a good way of putting it.
** spoiler (kind of) **
This movie scared me when I was a kid (a long time ago :( ),
because my neighbor had a barn like the one in the movie.
We used to always jump off the stacked hay bails into the loose hay below.
Thank God, there were no pitch forks laying in it.

A few months back, they played it alongside The Innocents, but I missed it. I always forget that Friday is Fear Friday on AMC, and I miss it almost every week. I wonder what's airing tonight. If it's either They Live or Army of Darkness, I'm boycotting the channel altogether.

Nah, last night it was Dr. Giggles. :D (I did not watch it, AMC used to be great with movies but they have sucked lately. TCM kicks their ass as far as commercial free and widescreen presentation is concerned.)
My husband likes The Other and we have a copy. I do not like it, bores me to tears. I am not saying it is a bad story, it just did not hold my interest and sometimes that does happen. I can be quite fickle on occasion.

I've heard so much about this film and the original book and I have yet to see it nor find a copy of the original book.
