Hey all,

We've been offered the opportunity to have all JoBlo.com visitors submit questions for next summer's much anticipated movie adaptation of THE HITCHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY. The questions will be fielded by the film's director Garth Jennings and its producer Nick Goldsmith for an upcoming interview. Please no silly joke questions. Thanks.

We will submit the 5 best questions and publish the Q&A with them on our site soon after it's completed sometime in January.

Mr, Jennings, I must say that Blur's Coffee and TV music video was awesome, but what kind of pressure is there for a virtually unknown director like yourself to successfully adapt one of the most beloved book series' of all time?

Best of luck to you sirs.

How would you describe the compromises made between the wildly unconventional and self-contradictory books and a film version that the public can digest, especially in the case of John Malkovich's character?

Aside from Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Marvin the Paranoid Android, probably the most popular character in the HHG series is the narrator (aka, "The Book"). Will the narrator's presence be as prominent as in the books and radio series, and if so, how will his part be translated to the screen?

What differences can we expect to see regarding the characters, both visually and psychologically, that will expand from Douglas Adams' radio show and novel to this newly updated version meant to appeal towards a more mainstream audience, and why were they chosen? In short, how and why were characters altered from the original?

Basic Example using TV Mini-series:

What kind of pressure is there on you and your team to produce a movie that will meet or surpass the expectations of the countless HHG fans (myself included)? Do you see the success of this film as a 'make-or-break' opportunity for yourself?

thanks for your time

While I enjoyed Mos Def's performances in Monsters Ball and The Woodsman he doesn't seem the obvious choice for the role of Ford Prefect, what was it that won him the role?

When adapting a book to film it's not so important to capture all the details, but to capture the heart and spirit of the source material. What in your opinion is the essence of the Hitchhiker's Guide? What is the book, and the film, about?
