It's really a moving song when you think about it. That is if um you have to think about something to be moved.
Hey, lay off with these subtle digs and appreciate the fact that it could have been sandwiched between Gershwin AND Chopin. Dig that classical music man.
Hmmm...I'm getting defensive over what could be regarded as an observation, now's the time to wear my Dexy affiliation proudly and take the dissenters out to the Trash.
You can gawk and snicker all you want but there is no denying that it is a great tune. And, yes, it is out of place.

It's such an amazing song. Aside from the lyrics and musicality, the VIBE is INCREDIBLE. It's like nostalgia, regret, concentration and adoration in a short little song. I have a lot of crazy personal associations with this tune, but I still think that it's a masterpiece.

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
Eric Clapton - Cocaine
Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Grateful Dead - Truckin
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child Of Mine
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends
John Lennon - Imagine
Led Zeppelin - All of My Love
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Rolling Stones - The Worst
Velvet Revolver - Fall to Pieces
My Top 15 (In descending order.)
15. Closer - Nine Inch Nails
-This song just takes me to a dark place and it isn't afraid to leave me there. Most modern "industrial" music owes more credit to NIN and this song in particular than it could ever hope to pay back.
14. Cowboys From Hell- Pantera
- This is the ultimate rally cry for real metal fans, with a powerful riff and pounding drums this song is the perfect combination of instrumentation and vocals.
13. Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple
- The most recognizable riff in history. If you hear this and don't know what song it is you can't call yourself a music fan.
12. Frozen Candle- Edguy
- An exemplary speed metal song. Its got an infectious quality that makes it almost impossible to not listen to, with its amazing combination of blazing fast guitar riffs and an operatic like chorus.
11. Paint It Black- The Rolling Stones
- This song just inspires me with its overwhelming sense of dread. Its not a "sad" song in the traditional sense, but it'll certainly evoke something from a listener.
10. Self- Esteem- The Offspring
- The only punk song I actually like. Self-Esteem harkens back to the days when punk wasn't the prepackaged and mainstream shit it is now.
9. Fight For Your Right- To Party- The Beastie Boys
- The ultimate rally cry to every bored disullusioned teen everywhere, with the perfect combination of clever lyrics and great instrumentation.
8. Danger! High Voltage- Electric Six
- Lets get funky. Everything here is perfect, from the Disco styled voclas to the funky instrumentation.
7. Rock Of Ages- Def Leppard
- The ultimate rock and roll tribute. Its a feel good catchy rock tune that shows that not every rock song has to "edgy" or "dark".
6. Ace Of Spades- Motorhead
- The ultimate speed metal song. Its heavy, fast and hard, but it never loses its perfect musical blance, every part working in perfect unison to create its own unique harmony. Lemmy's vocals also add something intangible to this song, giving it a vocal quality all its own.
5. Enter Sandman- Metallica
- The beauty of this song truly lies in its simplicity. The lyrics are easy to understand, learn and hear, and every guitar riff is a derivative of the FANTASTIC opening riff. Here's proof positive that not every metal song has to be a ten minute opus. Sometimes the simplest song can be the best.
4. Peace Sells (But Who's Buying?) - Megadeth
- This song is easily one of, if not the most, well written metal songs in history. The lyrics are catchy, and yet still carry a lot of clever meaning. Peace Sells is as much a political commentary as it is an awesome metal song.
3. Freebird-Lynrd Skynrd
- The ULTIMATE American song. It epic without being grandstanding and long without getting boring.
2. Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath
- The best "dark" song ever written, with the heaviest riffs I've ever heard in a metal song and the most evocative and emotional lyrics I've ever heard- PERIOD
1. Thunderkiss '65- White Zombie
- I've debated endlessly about including this here, but I don't care. Its my favorite song. Its got a great catchy beat and riffs that never stop, not to mention some of the most Acid Trip induced lyrics ever recorded. Its the perect song for those who like their metal served up with a healthy amount of weird and psychadelic insanity.

I have a feeling The Cure's Pictures of You will join this list real soon...I can't believe I never heard any Cure stuff until recently, good shit. And I figured it's been long enough for some Arcade Fire and TV on the Radio to get on...those two songs I have never gotten tired of. and Treble Charger...well, this is a song that I've listened to not obsessively, but rather continuously over the years and have never gotten tired of. Miles ahead of American Psycho and all their other random stuff.

I like some prog, but the problem is that most of it is whiter than wonder bread. The original black soul and attitude in original rock is stripped away with soulless wanking with no funk. Where's the rock?
Outright experimental rock is a bit of a different breed, though seeing more of rock's roots there wouldn't hurt.
