Decided to watch Ghost Ship again last night. Glad I did, I'd forgotten just how violent the fucker is!!!! Besides the opening slicing which we all know about, there's lots of other bits to enjoy. The flashback montage is completely nuts and contains more death than a Rambo flick!
Besides that, the ship itself is a great set that must have taken ages to build and the exterior shots have a real sense of being lost at sea.
On the bad side, I admit that the script kinda sucked. How many times did that blonde guy say 'Bullshit'????? The story wasn't told as well as it could have been, but I still think it's worth seeing.
**SPOILER** I love the final shots of the ship sinking and the ghosts rising to the heavens. Yeah, I know it's cheesy, but it looked really spectactular**END SPOILER**
7/10

It was decent. Better than Thrirteen ghosts but not as good as the House on haunted hill remake.

Loved it. The flash-back montage was awesome.

"Ghost ship" is a piece of monkey shit! Better then "13 Ghosts"?
Im amazed a comparison is being made between the two, they are both just another example of the typical crap the big studios consider a horror movie....when the real horror is being made to sit through these turds! CGI, gloss and no substance. That pretty much sums up these wastes of time!
Ghost Ship? That sounds like the name of a 70's cover band!

Ghost Ship, is about a boat crew that meet a man at the local bar who says he found a ship in the middle of the ocean and shows them pictures of it. He asks if he can go with them and split the money if they find anything valuable. The leader of the crew named Murphy, agrees and they go out in their boat to the sea. They find the ship in the ocean and find out it was called the Antonia Graza. While on the ship the crew finds gold and plans to take it with them back home and that they will be rich but on the ship many things prevent them from leaving. The only female crew member named Epps, meets the ghost of a little girl named Katie, who tells her the legend about the ship and why they have to get off of it. Meanwhile the rest of the crew is trying to stay alive as the spirits on the ship are trying to kill them. Ghost Ship, is not as good as Frailty, or The Ring, but is better than FearDotCom, and is good eye candy and is just a popcorn fun film that is a good choice for one of those type of movies right around this time near Halloween. One thing I didn't like too much was the very ending of the film but it's not like a terrible ending such as in Signs, or Final Destination, it just kind of leaves you feeling like, huh? Well for a popcorn fun horror film with not that much brain but a lot of eye candy and action then you will probably like Ghost Ship.
AWESOME!!! I can't believe my parents took me to see this! It had to be the goriest flick of 2002. Great movie, I saw it the theater twice and loved it.

I thought the beginning was good but the middle was kinda boring. 6/10

The very beginning was GENIOUS. The flashback montage was alright. The rest was just a passable, by-the-numbers Hollywood horror flick where people get picked off one-by-one in an enclosed area.
Still, it was an entertaining timewaster. Certainly not terrible.

I thought this movie was a giant piece of garbage... Just utterly terrible... Just really generic, lame and unoriginal movie that had ZERO scares throughout... The ONLY redeeming thing about this pile of bollocks, is the opening scene (which everyone already knows about!) :p

I would not call it good, I wouldn't call it bad by any chance either; but it was pretty entertaining most of the way through.

This movie would have had no attention from me if it weren't for the kickass opening scene.

As everyone has mentioned, the only thing going for this movie is the great "opening sequence", everything else after that is just "meh".

I figured I might as well jump in and agree with the majority here. The opening sequence had me and I thought that the film was going to be something decent but of course I was let down. What a waste.

Ghost Ship is one of those movies that fails to ever live up to it's opening scene; however, I found the movie quite enjoyable. It's a popcorn flick to be sure, but those of us who can ignore the absence of such useless material as characters and development should find something to like.

The only part I liked was the opening slicing and dicing. The entire movie should've been about that wire going around cutting people up. It didn't help that I watched this movie right after I saw Below, and Below's a ten times better movie about a haunted water vehicle.

Hmm...I thought this movie sucked. Dong. It wasted the supremely cool Gabriel Byrne, promised so much with the admittedly great opening (whoever came up with the idea of showing a deck full of people falling apart is a sick, sick individual) and the crap script was badly brought to life by a bad director and B-list cast. No real scares, annoying little girl, crap villain, 'nuff said.
Watch Below, or if you want some cheesy, non-challenging horror, House on Haunted Hill

It was decent...but could have been better.
ps. I love the poster for it!
I don't like admitting it, but Ghost Ship is a total guilty pleasure of mine, even though it's so incredibly lame. But hey, Desmond Harrington's hot so that makes it enjoyable. And I do like the revealing montage at the end. That's all.

Yes, better than 13 Ghosts, but it really doesnt need much to be better than 13 Ghosts... Opening scene is cool, but rest of the film is pretty booooring.
