A sharply-written, scathing, cynical, involving, and brilliantly-acted drama. I was expecting pretentious crud, but I was surprisingly treated to a natural drama up there with the likes of THE SECRET LIVES OF DENTISTS and AMERICAN BEAUTY.
The best movie of 2004, thus far...though I'm sorry to see that some fellow schmoes didn't like it as much as I did. :(

Great performances from every actor in this one. This movie was a pleasant surprise.
This is the kind of film EYES WIDE SHUT should have been; No disrespect to the master, Stanley Kubrick, who is one of my absolute faves, but EWS was pretentious and extremely silly.
We Don't Live Here Anymore is supremely well-acted and very realistic. Definitely a must-rent.

I totally agree with you AJ! I loved We Don't Live Here Anymore, and it's my favorite film of the year.

I did not like this at all - it is realistic, but it is nothing new or creative, I thought it was boring and pointless
(I do love Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Watts though)

** 1/2 -- Played like a french movie.
Solid performances from Watts and Ruffalo. Peter Krause was too difficult of a character to grasp (he seemed nonchalant and not perturbed by the situation). Laura Dern was an A class hag as well. Great set up though, having everyone cheat on each other so that everyone is equally guilty. At times it went no where, and felt fake, ex: having Krause was sleeping the whole time Watts and Ruffalo were fucking literally 5 feet from the bed... funny I liked how the children were the bottlenecks to the couples breaking apart instantly, but yet there was something else that was preventing them...
Movie ends on an odd note, and sort of leaves me in confusion...
**SPOILERS**
I can understand why Watts wanted to get run over by a train because she was depressed and couldn't handle it. But why did she bring the daughter with her?
**END SPOILERS**
oh yeah and the feed looked pretty clear on my HDTV.
