I just got the second DVD of this. I didn't get the first yet. The second is a whole new, standalone story so it doesn't matter. Those of you in the UK might have seen the PS2 game.

It's a computer animated japanese cartoon about a strange motel full of cute, blockheaded animals that also happen to be undead monsters and spirits. The cg is rather bad, it's from a weird first-person perspective and the format takes getting used to (an episode consists of 25 two-minute shorts and the title/ending shots repeat for each of them) but the story gets quite interesting and it has many genuinely disturbing, creepy characters and scenes (esspecially the lizard nurse with an obviously sexual fetish for drawing blood) - this is NOT a kid's show, in or out of japan.

Plotwise, it reminds me a lot of Silent Hill.

Silent Hill if it were acted out by lego animals.

Even if you end up not liking it, it's still worth getting just to check out and add something truly unusual to your horror collection. I was iffy at first, but once I got used to the format and animation I enjoyed it a great deal and will definately be getting the rest of the series!

I spotted this at my local Target, and always brushed it off,
don't really know why, but I think I may just pick this up.
It does look unusual.

Like Silent Hill you say?? How curious.
