View Full Version : Darabont does The Mist
I'm really looking forward to this. Darabont has announced his next film will be Stephen King's The Mist (a totally creepy short story from King's Skeleton Crew). If it was someone other than Darabont I'd be apprehensive, but his record for turning King stories into amazing films (Shawshank, Green Mile) leaves me with no doubt that it will be fantastic. Is anyone else excited? Casting choices?

I love Darabont and it will be great to see him get his hands on a more scary film

I haven't read the story, but if Shawshank and Green Mile are any indication, this is headed toward "instant classic" status.

I thought he was working on a new version of Fahrenheit 451?

according to imdb, he still is attached to Fahrenheit 451, but now that he is doing the mist it might get delayed

I recall reading "The Mist" and never finishing it (not out of disinterest, but lack of time for reading). It's part of Steve King's "Skeleton Crew" collection.
I'm looking forward to catching the rest of the story on the big screen and I'm excited to see Darabont handling something that (hopefully) will be a straight up horror film.

after finishing reading the story i thought it would make a great film, but i hope they stick to the general feel of it and dont just go over the top with monsters but at the same time not forgetting they are there
I went back and read it again over Christmas, and now I'm even more excited. Knowing Darabont's style. I think he will really play up the tense atmosphere of the story rather than just making a monsterfeast.
