View Full Version : Idle Hands - Is it really that bad?

Idle Hands is a touching story about a boy and his right hand. That's the tagline. You can't get a cooler tagline, if you ask me. This movie had a lot going for it: it was original, Devon Sawa did a very good job with the physical comedy, Jessica Alba was hot, and the "undead" characters Mick and Pnub, played by Seth Green and Eldon Henson, were actually quite funny and memorable. Maybe that's why some didn't like it; it was more comedic than scary. I liked it a lot.

My favorite horror/comedy ever. I liked it much better than Shaun (which I just saw, hilarious). But then, I'm an ultra sucker for Sawa, Alba and Green. But either way, I think it's GREAT.
9/10.

I despised it at first, but upon a second viewing, I learned to appreciate it. Some of the gags are forced and the storyline is derivative, but it's fun in spite of these shortcomings. I like to think of it as a glossy Dead Alive.

Well I'm glad at least you guys enjoyed it. I just realized that Arrow hasn't reviewed it, which I'm kind of surprised he didn't. Someone should suggest it...

Idle Hands is a great horror/comedy,an easy 8/10. And plus, Jessica Alba is hot as all hell.... she insured it at least getting a 4:D

VERY enjoyable little film. Nice DVD as well.
A rare case of horror and comedy really working well. Seth Green is in top form.

Nah, not by any means. It's been ages since I've seen it, but I remember digging the insane vibe and scare/laugh blend. Not too shabby.

i was disappointed with it, although it was pretty funny at times, the laughs were far apart and in between i got pretty bored

Orginal? Evil Dead 2 anyone? Anyway it was a fairly enjoyable movie with several funny moments and a good amount of gore.

I'll second that.
Also, I really like this movie. I rented it once night when staying alone at my grandparents' place. Of course I got a call at one of the funniest parts of the movie(The Cat) and it took me a lot to keep from laughing, but I did it.
Anyway, if I find this on DVD, I'll probably get it. At least it has Jessica Alba in leather pants AND in her underwear.

Hey, in Evil Dead 2 Ash's hand was trying to kill Ash. Anton's hand just tried to kill...everyone...

The "killer hand" bit has been done a few times before (The Beast With Five Fingers, The Hand). Idle Hands is fun, but I wouldn't call it original.

Tho, I do believe someone affiliated with the ED franchise tried to sue Idle Hands makers for this similarity. (Or maybe one of those earlier short stories)

I thought that was supposed to be some sort of homeage.

Acutally I remember some parts where Anton's hand was trying to kill him. Also Ash's hand did kill that one girl, the professors's daughter(I don't remember her name). So it does indeed rip off Evil Dead 2. If you don't believe me then just rewatch ED2.

Really didn't like it. Thought it was derivative. Thought it was trying really hard to be too clever for it's own good. Seemed like it was geared toward a certain market or stereotype of audience - those heavy into watching television dramadies produced by Aaron Spelling or Kevin Williamson. I don't know....just didn't do it for me.
Too glossy, too hip, too "edgy", and that's too bad cause I did actually like the odd casting. but hell, to each his own.

Haven`t seen it for ages, but I remember really enjoying it. Loved Seth Green, Sawa, Alba, the soundtrack, the humor, Rob Zombie`s video and the gore.
I find it to be quite derivative, and Jessica Alba's hotness alone cannot carry a film...well, not for 90 minutes, anyway.

I enjoyed it. It was a fun, often funny entertaining movie. It's a perfect beer and buds type flick and a great party movie.

Great movie! I can't say anything that is bad about Idle Hands since it is just an excellent movie. Plus, it has The Offspring, and Tom DeLonge from blink-182 makes a very small cameo, and I'm a sucker for punk-style music.
