Need help in identifying a past horror flick!

I remember seeing a horror(?)/sci-fi type movie back in the mid 80's. I think my dad rented it.

All I remember is that they were on some sort of space craft/space station. I know people died (but I forget how - maybe an alien on board), but one of the female victims identifies this gooey substance that smells like "lemon", and I think she dies soon after that.

Another scene I remember is a crew member trying to make their way to safety through a long narrow tunnel by sliding through on their back (and I think that person dies as well).

At the end, I think I remember a scene where a man is playing chess with a robot.

At the time, this movie creeped me out, but it might have been a comedy for all I know. I haven't seen this movie since and have been trying to figure out what it was called. My dad doesn't even remember it (for good reason?).

Can anyone help out with the title?

I remember a movie with a slimy slug like creature on a space ship called Ice Pirates, but it wasnt a movie about that monster, it was just sort like a small part of the movie, like a small sub plot of this little monster running around in the ship.

Another movie about an alien aboard a ship is Star Crystal. It sounds to me like its probably Star Crystal because if I remember correctly they had to move down large tunnels to get from one room of the ship to the next in one scene.

Do you remember anything about the plot?

In star crystal the creature starts to grow everytime he kills someone and gets smarter...by the end of the movie the creature grows a fucking conscience and decides not to kill anyone else! And he says that he killed everyone else out of self defense.

Theres a scene where one of the members of the tripulation (a girl) throws acid on the creature...and quickly dies afterwards.

Ring any bells?

OMG, you're right, it IS "Star Crystal"! I thought the it was a robot he was playing chess with at the end... but it was the actual alien that was killing everyone. Apparently the alien does a complete 180 turn and becomes friendly.

LOL, I wonder where I can get my hands on a copy of this just so I can watch this again.

Things I remember about the plot:

Like I said, the key scenes where the victims identify the "smell/gooey substance" left by the alien as a "lemony".

I'm pretty sure when the alien kills them, he leaves his victims covered in slime with some sort of "frozen horrific facial expression".

Some key scenes would be the woman crawling her way through the narrow tube-like tunnel, before getting it. And I'm pretty sure the first character to die is a black man.

Then at the end of the movie, I remember the main guy playing a game (chess) with the creature, as if they were all friends. That's why this movie stood out in my mind, because for the longest time, I was convinced I had two movies confused as one.

Yeah, this one was supposed to be a horror movie but for some reason it just jumps into family movie territory with that creature turning all goody goody. This movie is so cheap!

Anyhows, I believe you can get a copy through amazon, this flick is actually on DVD if you can believe it! If you cant get it through amazon then Im sure you can special order it through your favorite video shop.
