Who's getting this one? I netflixed it, as I do for all movies. Will watch later tonight (it's an old school flipper disc, FS on side a, WS on side b)

prolly because of a low budget, none the less good feed (from what I saw in the first minute or so)

Thought the movie was pretty funny overall. The climax was predicted ahead of time (without being exposed by the trailer or told)

I thought it was going to suck so I didnt see it in theaters. I'll rent it to cofirm my suspicions, or, be proved wrong. One or the other.

Overrated, terrible, unfunny mess.

I concur. What was so good about this movie? The only part I even chuckled at was when that bully was going to steal the nerd's bike and Pedro's cousins drove up and one of them shook their head.

There wasn't even a plot or anything, just a bunch of annoying characters. Baaaaaaaad movie. Luckily, I got it for free.

The deleted scenes are sort of lame. But then again, most are. <3 the menu, <3 the movie, haven't heard commentary. I guess I just wish they put more time and money into it, but I said it once, I'll say it again: good feed and that's what matters the most ;)

I listenend to the commentary last night. Its hilarious...provides some cool information about the scenes and all the people.

I disagree with what you agree with. This is a love it or hate it affair. Sure it doesn't deserve Artsy awards, but in a way it does. Picked up and nailed the atmosphere Dumb and Dumberer was aiming at (to have out of fashion characters). Don't tell me that dance scene didn't get you going, and the nutshocking time travel... oh man

Psh, this movie is light years away from being halfway as good as Dumb and Dumber.

Dumb and Dumberer

Not Dumb and Dumber :)

Dumb and Dumber didn't try to take a swing at having all the characters be out of fashion and sort of clueless, just two (who were clueless but not "out of fashion")

I liked this film. 8/10.

What got me is that the film really resembles real life. Through my years of junior high and high school, I remember kids like Napoleon. They were so out of touch with reality that you couldn't help but laugh at them constantly with their actions, bogus stories, and watching them get picked on.

The film isn't one of those ones that degrades itself by trying to make you laugh every other line, it just builds up in a voyeuristic way and explodes with something like the orange scene, running over the tupperware bowl, or my fave when he gets slammed against the locker and then pretends to kung fu kick the bully after he has walked away. That shit happens and it's hilarious to watch.

Hilariously great character study that was real, and surreal at the same time. (Uncle Rico thinking a time machine can really work)

I thought it was amusing, not hilarious, the characters were great (Kip with the bling-bling) loved the "suit scene" ; all over funny, but don't expect to laugh out loud

it's been sold out at many stores i went to, finally got it at overpriced blockbusters, but whatever.

either it was purchased in short supply, or it's been selling like hot cakes. Anyone have the sales?

I would have to say its getting sold out. I went monday night at 12:16 to get mine and there were already a noticeable amount of the DVD gone. For having no plot, no story line, random parts thrown in the story such as the FFA cow club, its a pretty darn good movie.

Review: Napoleon Dynamite
http://www.browntownjohnny.com/index.php

Sleeper Alert! Indie pick-up by MTV Films called "Napoleon Dynamite" is the best no-brainer comedy this year! Even better than "Team America". Go out and rent it now!

A group of Brigham Young film students made this dumb down tribute to school geeks that is cheap fun for families to laugh at. Full of slapstick highjinks (when has a headslap every been done right? Here it is!) and goofball uncles and older brothers who still don't get life. Napoleon Dynamite (no...not a black action hero) is a tall, slo-witted, and charmless school urchin who is pretty good at not fitting in, and not caring if he ever will. He lives with brother Kip (who is serious in love with someone on line, but never met) and Grandma in a shitbox in Idaho. Uncle Rico (character actor Jonathan Gries is hilarious) has moved in and starts selling Tupperware. The prom is coming soon and Napoleon needs a date. It gets better and better.

Written and directed by Jared Hess with brother Jerusha and starring schoolmate Jon Heder in the title role, a numbingly silly comedy that is a small classic. I did notice that the film is just a live action knockoff of Mike Judge's "Bevis and Butthead" series, but it is done right. Watch for Dietrich Bader as a bullshit Karate master. This movie did real well at the box office, so sequels are sure to come. Best Homegrown Movie this year!

Only movie I've ever gotten up to walk out on in the theater. But the people I was with made the point that I paid the money I should at least ride it out. They are no longer my friends.

Got the DVD as I write reviews for a site and threw it in the trash. Only took it out when my roommate made me realize the ethics of such an act (I had known, I just didn't care because I thought nobody was looking). So I charged one of my fellow reviews shipping for him to take it out of my life.
