Oh yeah, I fully agree. I think they could've tried a lot harder on that extra disc. I mean, the Nightmare set was like the definitive box set. The extras were amazing and I don't think any fan of the series was let down by that awesome collection of special features. Now, you get the Friday the 13th set with a single disc containing nothing more than a gathering of featurettes and trailers for the first 8 films. Hmm... Could've been a hell of a lot better. I mean, there are so many more features that could've been added. Yeah, we get some deleted/extended scenes. Cool. What about some bloopers? Auditions? Rehearsals? And I don't know about you, but I love the old retro horror specials they'd have on MTV and stuff like that. For instance, there was a behind the scenes/making-of special MTV did for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 way back in 1988 that was really cool and an interesting watch. Hey, that would've been an amazing addition to the Nightmare set. Anyways, I just think that the special features for this particular set didn't hold as much charm and intrigue purely because most of them were brand spankin' new. I'm more interested in seeing scrapped or saved stuff from years ago than a bunch of slapped together interviews they did at the last minute.

I'm just disappointed that Paramount didn't release the movies uncut. That's all I wanted. And, that's why I haven't bought the boxset. I know, Paramount works under Viacom/Viacom doesn't sell unrated movies/Blockbusters refuse to sell unrated movies/etc. But, they should have worked around that somehow. Make that cheap boxset for those bastards at those stupid Blockbusters; And, release some the movies seperately on alternate unrated DVDs just for the other regular video stores. But, nooo...

Admittedly, some of the features that are there sound cool. Like the featurette with the several "victims" talking about their experiences behind the scenes. But, I don't feel like spending $60-70 on that extra disk just for that, not yet anyway. I've been waiting it out and will continue so.

It was shit...just horrible. You know Paramount is holding out so much more footage. Or they could have gone the extra mile and edited the gorier deaths back into the movie, or at least give you the option to watch the movie with the scenes edited back in.

Also the one I got from Best Buy had another extra disc...Jason Forever. This sucked even more but was only available at Best Buy in a limited amount. So I burned it just so I still had it and sold the original on ebay to some poor sucker for over $70. Then seeing a pattern I rushed back to best buy, bought another full set with the bonus disc (last one they had) and sold the whole set on ebay for $119.99. Some people just want things so bad and are willing to pay anything for them.

I don't think a quality Paramount release exists, I could be wrong of course. It's about time they woke up and gave the punters what they want, not to mention what they deserve, afterall the F13th franchise has a pretty hardcore fanbase one that won't put up with any old shit that comes there way.

Well, I'll be the one who actually thought the disc was ok. I've come to terms that Paramount will never release the movies uncut OR make an excellent boxset (though I enjoyed this boxset). The uncut stuff was ok, but it was only bad due to the fact it tried to compare the two shots on one screen, and some of that stuff (sans Friday the 13th Part I stuff) couldn't have been intergrated to the films because they were in horrible condition(the only other good quality one was the triple decap in Friday the 13th part VI). I enjoyed the Friday the 13th Chronicles featurette, and was only dissapointed by the lack of Thom Matthews for Part VI and other cast members besides Corey Feldman from Part V. I enjoyed the Secrets Galore Behind the Gore Featurette, especially the Part VII one where Kane Hodder was talking about his experience. It is all good, and I'm happy that Paramount at least released these films in a boxset (and you should be happy, too), because no matter how many fanboys bitch or moan about wanting the movies to be uncut, we will never get them.

I was more satisfied with the Friday Bonus then the Nightmare one. To me, the nightmare one was lacking in lots of places.

-Commentary for only 2 of the movies !!?? Come on i know the directors of 2-6 would of done a commentary (they did interviews for god sakes!!) I wanted a Nightmare 3 commentary the most!! Ugh.

-Where's the deleted scenes for Nightmare 1-intstead we get 2 Alt. Endings but where's the other stuff they was released on a double tape awhile ago. Also where's the workprint footage for Freddy's Dead-I know they could of found it.

-where's the making of Nightmare 4 they was on TV back in '88 and other behind the scene nuggets. New Line hired someone to find all the bonus materials-did he fall asleep in the process cause what a half assed job-i wanted more!!

But i will say the widescreen tranfers look great, the 2 commentarys are intersating and the other bonus stuff is decent but could of been so much more. I was way more satisfied with the Friday disc ( i do wish for uncut versions and at least 2 more commentarys)

Friday Bonus disc-8/10
Nightmare bonus disc-6/10

Agreed. JadedGamer, I wouldn't be surprised to see the uncut versions released in the next couple of years. They're waiting to see how well this box set sells. One of the guys from Paramount said so himself in an issue of Fangoria. He hinted at possibly manumitting further goodies down the line.

If that is the case, than how well has the F13 boxset sold so far? Have enough F13 fans and curious unitiated viewers bought it off the shelves yet to warrant a possible unrated rerelease? If the fate of Jason's bloody life's work depends on the F13 boxset, than I hope enough people buy it. I may still buy it further down the line, but I'll wait for the time being. I'm not spending $60-70 on that bonus disk now.

Well, I can see why you guys want an uncut boxset. I'm just afraid that if Paramount does release these uncut...I wonder if they'll try to restore the uncut footage to a good quality or not.

At this point, I don't even care about the image quality.

What about the archival uncut scenes on the bonus disk of the boxset? Where they in decent quality? If Paramount re-released the movies, would they look okay with the rest of the films?

The footage from Part I was in great shape.

I haven't bought it. because I always thought Friday The 13th sucked, but my cousin got it and I watched the "killer" extras. This is coming from someone who didn't have any expectations for this boxset.....I was disappointed.

If anyone remembers the previous thread about this so-called box set, (I think it was about a few months ago) it was clear that it wasnt going to worth purchasing, at least to me...

There is no way I will line the pockets of the ass-wipes at paramount, as for the profits of this current set warranting the possibility of an un-cut set...I doubt it will ever happen.

I also seem to remember saying that this is probably as good of a boxset we're going to get from Paramount, seeing as they'd assholes for hanging onto the rights of the first eight movies, and then do dick all with them other than to cheat fans out of a first rate boxset.

The whole box set was dross. Not worth a purchase just from a moral point of view because of the shit job they did by releasing cut versions (even of #1 which you can get uncut).

A pointless release. Tape the films when they come on TV or cable. Save your money.

the box-set if you really wants them uncut...
I got a copy of the bonusdisc from a friend who borrowed it from another friend...
I WILL NOT GIVE PARAMOUNT MY MONEY, WHEN THEY SPIT IN MY FACE...
I´ve allready got two editions of part 1 (the first paramount disc and our European warner disc that is uncut, has an audio commentary and a half hour documentary including the trailer...
SO FUCK YOU PARAMOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will not buy your boxset so you might release it uncut in ten years and cheapen me for more money...
