Should I check out Alien, Aliens, The Omen, The Serpent and The Rainbow, and They Live? I've never seen any of them before, and I've heard good things about all of them. How would you put those movies in order from worst to best so I know which ones to catch first? I own Aliens but haven't viewed it yet because I just got it for Christmas. I almost bought The Omen and The Serpent And The Rainbow but I was afraid they wouldn't be worth the cash. So tell me if I should check these out, and in what order I should do it in.

Nightmare-- Those are all movies that range from really good to absolutley fucking fantastic!
Here's how I'd rate my preference of them:
1. Alien- Best monster movie ever!
2. Aliens- Best follow up to a monster movie ever! Watch 'em in order to get the maximum effect.
3. They Live- I fucking love this movie! It is very underrated! Definitely a great film.
4. The Omen- The only good film in this series was the original. 666 means good times!
5. The Serpent and the Rainbow- Great little story of Voodoo and zombification from horror mogul Wes Craven.

Alien, Aliens and The Omen are all classics and all good in their own way.
But Serpent and the Rainbow is extra creepy in a real sort of way cause its based on real life events....and voodo and I just think that its one of Wes Cravens best flicks. Nightmarish, creepy and real. Three good words to describe a very underrated flick...check it out as soon as possible you wont be dissapointed!
All those flicks are really good, except The Serpent and the Rainbow. I thought that one was just plain old stupid. You should watch it just to say that you've watched it, but never touch it again.
The other movies all kick serious ass, though.

All those you've listed are great films in their own right, ok so Serpent is a little disjointed but it's a good old slice of 80's horror and it's a Wes Craven flick, let's face it the poor guy needed all the help, and hype, after Deadly Friend (a film I happen to dig - in parts - actually;) ) My run down is as follows:
1. The Omen
2. Alien
3. Aliens
4. Serpent & The Rainbow
5. They Live
These belong in any horror fans collection!

I personally found both the Alien movies to be a little overrated. Still worth seeing and still pretty good films though.
The Omen is a bit overrated too, but is a damn good film still and worth watching.
They Live is my fave of all of them listed. Totally badass action/sci-fi/horror flick with great lines and is just incredibly fun to watch.
I've never seen Serpent And The Rainbow, but I really want too.

Nightmare, do yourself a favour and don't see Aliens until you manage to see Alien.
Because once you're used to the monster, you'll find the first film a bit strange, since it takes so long until it arrives.

Word to the wise: If you're curious enough, check out everything you can. Unless you really have no desire at the time, go for it. You can get a better knowledge on horror and more of a grasp on what you like and don't like to watch while broadening your horizons.
