Just to let people who didn't know know, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, has a special edition 2 disc DVD coming out soon, so don't buy the original if you hate wasting money.

Does anyone else think this movie doesn't deserve a special edition. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movie, and will buy it, but what is up with this? It has been out 1 year, didn't do well at the box office, and it gets a special edition only maybe 6 months after originally coming out on DVD. I fucking hate Hollywood and how these damn people try to make money. It really pisses me off.

i think its wrong how they release the special edition after the original dvd. But with that said, I DO think Eternal is worthy of a special edition, it doesn't matter how it did at the box office, this movie, in my opinion, is the best film of the year, one of the most important films of the year and one of the best of all of 2000... needless to say i will be picking it up.

I agree with you on the Hollywood thing. I HATE how these bastards keep double and triple dipping DVD's.

That being said this film easily deserves a SE. You Got Served did well at the box office but did it deserve the SE it got? Eternal also had the misfortune of going up against Dawn of the Dead,The Passion of The Christ and Starsky & Hutch in it's first week and most people I knew were more interested in Ben Stiller comedy #1,349 over something fresh and original (not saying I didn't enjoy Starsky but Eternal is much better).

Eternal Sunshine is one of the best written, acted and directed movies I have seen in years and is one of the Top 10 movies of the decade. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet's performances are breathtaking and both deserve Oscar nom's this year. So yes I believe this film truely deserves a SE if films like Gothika,The New Guy,You Got Served and The Animal get SE's.

I went to my local best buy a couple days ago and its actually already out there. There were two of them sitting there and the price tag said 23.99. I wasn't sure if it was really the SE edition but the box looks exactly the same. I thought the price was suppose the be 19.99 though.

I didn't pick up the original version, so I'll definitely nab this.

Normally I would chime in on knocking those responsible for double-dipping, but considering how much I love the film, I will gladly pick up the new SE of the film.

As to why it's getting the SE treatment.........

It's likely for Oscar promotion. The film was released theatrically in Feb. of 2004 (I could be wrong on that). A fresh DVD release would certainly help its chances in awards season.

That aside, I'd like to see everyone involved with this pick up an Oscar, but none more so than Kate Winslet, who certainly deserves it this year.why

For a movie of its kind, I'd say it did pretty good it the box office.

Now, I want my damn Adpatation SE.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie, and definately think it deserves a Special Edition. I just thought that they could wait, you know, more than 2 months since the original DVD came out. After the Special Edition comes out, why don't they come out with the Collectors Ultra Edition? Where does it stop?

do you think it will be regular clamshell (like snatch or collateral) or box style (like fight club or magnolia)?

I think it's box style.

Eternal Sunshine is my favorite movie of 2004. I picked up the DVD when it was released just a few months ago. At the time, I didn't know about the 2 disc set coming out this Tuesday. I hate that Hollywood is making this more and more common these days. I remember buying Underworld when it first came out and refusing to buy the double disc set that was released just a few months later. In this case, I guess it really depends on the movie. If I didn't love Eternal Sunshine as much as I do, I would probably be passing on it. However, I gave my old copy to a friend that didn't have it yet so it works out for everyone.
