I'm guessing Psychocandy will close this because if one thread resembles another a tiny bit he'll close it down right away(;)), but I wanted to make this since the other one started out early in the year and has over 40 replies I believe.
The thread is simple, list your complete and final list of your favourite and least favourite 10 songs of 2004, with a brief explanation of why that song is there(in case someone puts Kelis' Milkshake people won't be asking ARE YOU FUCKING MAD). You can only put 10, but you can also put a tie(only 1 tie). All others can be honourable mentions.
So, let's see the lists :)
ah hell, who am I kidding? Countdown to thread closing in 10....;)

Top:
1. Green Day 'Letterbomb' - I love this song just for the simplicity. The last bit is also very awesome. I love it.
2. Modest Mouse 'Float On' - I feel fucking inspiration when I hear this song on the radio and off the CD. I love this song, and Modest Mouse is one of the best bands I've heard this year.
3. My Chemical Romance 'Helena' - This is a great intro to a very great unique album. Seriously, don't put it as a straight up emo CD, cause it isn't. There is a very jazzy track and country (gasp!) opening to a song.
4. blink-182 'Always' - This song just means a lot to me because of a girl I just broke up with. We are still looking at each other at school, and I still feel something for her.
5. Coheed and Cambria 'A Favor House Atlantic' - This song brought me into the C&C universe and literally pulled me into emo music. It is just so damn catchy.
6. Taking Back Sunday 'Bonus Mosh Pt. II' - I don't have a good reason, I just love this song.
7. The Killers 'Mr. Brightside' - It is all about the damn lyrics and the kickass synth in the background!
8. New Found Glory 'Don't Wanna Know' - I'm a sucker for these slow songs....sue me.
9. NoFx 'Worn Out the Soles of My Party Boots' - This is a new track off their CD with all their old songs on it. I just love it.
10. Jimmy Eat World 'Pain' - I have a new respect for this band now.
Worst (I don't feel the need to explain them):
1. Good Charlotte 'I Just Want To Live'
2. Three Days Grace 'Just Like You'
3. Korn 'Word Up'
4. Simple Plan....hell, their whole album sucks.
5. Good Charlotte 'Predictable'
6. Bowling for Soup '1985'
..........fuck it. Pick out a couple of more GC or SP songs.

Devendra Banhart - Little Yellow Spider - Insane, yet strangely quaint and undeniably beautiful in its unabashed simplicity. With two albums 'neath his caftan this year, there is just no way Banhart should be missing from this list.
The Go! Team - Ladyflash & The Power Is On - So saccharine sweet, they should come with a government health warning! The Go Team fizzed, crackled and popped in 2004, here's hoping the energy stays alive in 2005!
Morrissey - The First Of The Gang To Die - It has a distinct air of 'Vintage Moz' about it. Plus any gang that boasts a kid called Hector as a member is pretty nifty in my book. Moz still has it...the entire album is joyous!
Franz Ferdinand - Michael - A grimy little number...and a big dirty "fuck you" to homophobes; an endangered breed. It's hard to choose just one number by Franz...they're the band of the year, and they deserve every accolade heaped upon them.
Annie - Chewing Gum - Like Ladyflash, Chewing Gum is another slice of sweet, sweet lollipop shaped goodness. Undeniably catchy, technically quite brilliant. It hardly made a dent on the charts but I for one loved it! Annie's current offering is equally tremendous.
The Streets - Dry Your Eyes - Skinner's tender ode for the 'bloke's bloke' shall be heard on the football terraces and behind the bolted door of every lock-in the length and breadth of Great Britain. Probably the most important tune of the year in terms of pricking the public's consciousness.
Scissor Sisters - Laura - Just about the honkiest tonkiest (?) tune since sliced Elton (when he was kewl that is). Scissor Sisters remind me of crack cocaine, the filthy beggars.
TV On The Radio - New Health Rock - These kids have yet to put a foot wrong. Methinks in 2005 'TV...' might just kill all the other radio stars. Hehe ;), didja see what I did there?
Kylie Minogue - I Believe In You - She's a pocket rocket is our Kylie...and this perfect slice of electro-infused jingly pop courtesy of Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) is a real return to form.
William Shatner - Common People - Cocker + Shatner = Happy BadCoverVersion. It just feels so right.
The Worst...
3 Of A Kind - Babycakes
Eamon - F.I (I Don't Want You Back)
Frankee - F.U.R.B
DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide
Mario Winans Feat. Enya & P Diddy - I Don't Wanna Know
Britney Spears - Everytime
Duncan James & Keedie - I Believe My Heart
Brian McFadden - Real To Me
Robbie Williams - Radio

Favourites...
Just about anything by Franz Ferdinand. I'm with BCV; these fellas are one of the best bands around at the moment. Their album has never left my CD player. Favourite single would be 'Matineé,' but favourite track is certainly 'Auf Acshe.'
Same goes for Scissor Sisters. I know they're as love/hate as Marmite, but I for one love them. Favourite single release was 'Laura' (even when one friend pointed out it sounded like the Thomas the Tank Engine theme), and favourite track was the strangely haunting 'It Can't Come Quickly Enough.'
As much as I prefer some of REM's older albums, 'Around the Sun' produced one of my favourite tracks of 2004 - 'Leaving New York.' I'm a sucker for REM anyway and would listen to Michael Stipe singing the contents of a phone directory, but I LOVED this song.
Can't think of ten, to be honest - not a great year, in my opinion. Not regarding my tastes, anyway.
The shit list...
The Frankee (sic)/Eamon feud. Christ almighty, my ears bled with his nasal voice and my eyes glazed over with her porcine features.
Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath. Enough of Beyonce's caterwauling, and has anyone else noticed how the two main beats in the background of the chorus sound like the chase music in 'Terminator 2'?
Joss Stone - You Had Me. Someone, somewhere, give this girl breathing lessons. She sounds like she's having an asthma attack in this one. And if I hear her faux American accent one more time, I'll scream. You're from Devon, love, hardly the epitome of cool.

Uh oh. Most of my best tunes are listed as worst in everyone else's lists. :o Here goes:
BEST (no order):
1. Because of You by Kelly Clarkson. It doesn't gain me any street-cred but this song is just heartbreakingly beautiful.
2. Only One by Yellowcard. It still sounds as good as it did first listen (no matter how many times I try to wear it out).
3. Martyr Me by The Get Up Kids. So damn catchy.
4. Tourist by Juliana Hatfield. I just love her.
5. Little Digger by Liz Phair. It's a slow-burn but a great track.
6. All Downhill From Here by New Found Glory. One of my favourite bands - any song from Catalyst could have made the list.
7. Lemon by Katy Rose. The rest of her album is disappointing but this song is flawless.
8. Take It All Away by Ryan Cabrera. He has a really great voice and nice lyrics.
9. Would If I Could by Auf Der Maur. It's damn cool.
10. I Caught Fire by The Used. Cool band - I needed them on my list.
WORST :
1. Somebody Told Me by The Killers. Critical darlings but I can't stand them. I just hate the way Flowers moos his way tunelessly through every song.
2. Those awful cover versions on Britney's Greatest Hits.
3. La La by Ashlee Simpson. I hate this song and the bloody horrific mental images it conjures up.
4. Anything by The Streets.
5. The Hilary Duff Christmas Album. I listened to this in Tower Records with a friend (we were looking for xmas tunes) - so bad it's scary!

I have my list here now, so here are my top 10 in no particular order(and you get links to listen to them ya lucky punks :))
Amerika by Rammstein
The song rocks. Pure and simple. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/Rammstein-Amerika.mp3)
Dead Disco by Metric
People seem to not dig on this girl's voice as much, but think the music is great. Lucky for me, I like the voice too, and the music plain rocks. Catchy as hell, fun as fuck. You have to like this. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/Metric-Dead%20Disco.mp3)
99 Problems by Jay-Z
I've never really liked a song by Jay-Z, until now. This song is a great combo of rock and rap, with the awesome guitar loop playing throughout and Jay's raps blending insanely well with it. An overall great song. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/Jay-Z-99%20Problems.mp3)
Staring At The Sun by TV On The Radio
Think 50s Doo Wop, Rock, a good sounding Peter Gabriel and Interpol and you might get a small picture on this band. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/tv%20on%20the%20radio%20-%20desperate%20youth,%20blood%20thirsty%20babes%20-%2002%20-%20staring%20at%20the%20sun.mp3)
The Love Song by K-Os
K-Os is THE best rapper around right now. Fuck 50 Cent, fuck Eminem, fuck Kanye West, fuck Outkast, fuck them all. K-Os is the best hands down and Joyful Rebellion is actually the most unique of all the rap albums that came out in the past few years. This song combines easten type music with rap, and it proves to be great. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/07%20the%20love%20song.mp3)
TIE: Hold Me Now by The Polyphonic Spree
The Spree are at it again. I still think they're a cult! Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/The%20Polyphonic%20Spree-Hold%20Me%20Now.mp3)
I do have my solid picks for top 5 of 2004 though. And here they are.
5) TKO by Le Tigre
This came out of nowhere for me since I've never heard of the band before(which most people find surprising). It's a fun little tune that I can't really say much on. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/Le%20Tigre-TKO.mp3)
4) Common People by William Shatner featuring Joe Cocker
Shatner is quite the person on his own, and while a music career gets laughs by most people, he is surprisingly very good at it. Common People is a cover version of the Pulp song with the same name. Shatner makes Pulp proud with this version, with the fun new version of the tune, Cocker's great sing along and the choir in the song solidified my decision. 3) What You Waiting For by Gwen Stefani
I know I might get crucified by this but I'll explain first. This single once again came out of nowhere and blew me away. The KERAZY beat with Gwen's voice(which I've always loved)combined so well in this it was amazing. It flowed together so well for me and it was a fucking catchy ass tune I could just dance to. This is the best pop single of 2004 for me, hands down. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/01-what_you_waiting_for-lis.mp3)
2) Strict Machine by Goldfrapp
This is the second song I heard from Goldfrapp and it was love at first...uh....hear. The bassline is tremendous and Alison's voice is so good too. Listen to it Here (http://www.sub-zer0.com/someguy/downloads/Favourite%20songs%20of%202004/Goldfrapp-Strict%20Machine.mp3)
and the #1 song of 2004 is......
1) Crabbuckit by K-Os
I still don't get the meaning of this song, but I always found it to be a fun and harmless rap tune(and judging by the video, it appears to be that). This song is simply infectious. I mean that. The jazzy loop, k-os' rapping, everything in this song is so catchy and fun. You all must listen to this. You can listen to it HERE! Best album of 2004: Joyful Rebellion by K-Os
The album is pure brilliance and one of the only albums I have ever given a perfect 10/10. Seriously, check it out.
