http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0291341/ - Mean Machine

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0398165/ - The Longest Yard

Up until a minute ago I was going to name this "The biggest ripoff in Hollywood history" but then I found out "The Longest Yard (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071771)" was first made in 1974 and is now only being remade.

So I guess the English remade The Longest Yard and changed it to soccer as the main sport.

For those who haven't seen any of the movies

So it seems NO ONE saw the original Longest Yard except me?

It's actually a decent flick, although I am sure this remake will suck.

I will disagree with you. I actually think it looks pretty good. I'm psyched.

I'll have to see the original first of course.

I liked the original LONGEST. For some reason, I always remember the part where the guy that played Jaws in the Bond films clotheslines that guy HARD. For some reason, that is my one memory of this. I think this is actually a good sounding remake, with much more comedy than the original. A lot of recent remakes seem to keep the film in the same genre, but try to put a different "spin" on things. However, this seems to be more of a comedy from the outset, and it looks fun.

I loved The Longest Yard, cause it wasn't a goofball comdey, and Burt Reynolds could act. The remake... not so much. It'll be another lame Sandler flick, with him being his usual "subdued funny", and it'll be just another lame duck remake.

When will people realize that neither remakes NOR Adam Sandler are funny, or a good idea?
