I bought this movie for only one buck and I was pleasantely surprised.
Most of the time these kind of movies that are sold at this price are really bad but for once it was more than good.

This movie is never boring (you even have countdowns depicting the situation) the acting is not bad and energic, some dialogues are funny, too.
The carnosaurs are rubber-made it is not the usual FX à la Jurassic Park so it adds charm to me even if sometimes it looks really fake but whatever the movie is fun so...
It is very gory, the carnosaurs are really fierce and lethal they don't spare any-one.
This film has also a strong 80's vibe (to my personal opinion) even if it was released in 93.
Another thing I like is the ending it is not your usual happy ending it is much more somber than that and like with Romero the army is not positively treaten totally the opposite in fact and I must say I like that.

Overall note: a strong 7/10

Carnosaur rocks! I can't say much for the sequels, but the first film is the epitome of Corman cheese. It has everything - Clint Howard, nasty bloodletting, a "chestburster" ripoff, Clint Howard, rubber monsters, the '80s vibe that you mentioned, and last but not least, Clint Howard.

I've always had something of a soft spot for Carnosaur , myself. It has a good cast( for a Corman flick), great, somber "gloom and doom" atmosphere, some cheesy creature effects, and a nice exterior setting( I'm a sucker for flicks set in suburban desert communitys). It at least has more balls than Jurassic Park, and while its not quite as good, it still deserves some respect for being a superior Corman picture.

"Sounds like it would make a great amusement park."

Possibly the most retarded film ever. I loved it.

P.S. Clint Howard is a sexy thing.

I've said all there is to say about these movies in other threads, so I'll just say that they're awesome and that's all there is to it. Unless you don't like them.

I like all the Carnosaur movies for what they are...
The first Carnosaur reminds me of Romeros movies especially The Crazies (Codename Trixie) and Night of the livingdead.
The second Carnosaur is a rip off of Aliens and fun to watch and compare scenes from...
The third Primal Species I have almost gorgot, but remember liking it when I saw it...
