After several screentests WB look like they have found their Lois Lane. Reliable sources inform us that Kate Bosworth has won the role of Daily Planet's feisty yet incident prone reporter. After many young actresses screentested alongside Bradon Routh - with Elisha Cuthbert, Claire Danes and Keri Russell all believed to have come close it was Bosworth who Singer decided on. Kate who recently starred in Beyond The Sea now joins an impressive looking cast believed to be Shaun Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen, Spacey as Lex Luthor and Brandon Routh as Superman.
We have heard rumours of a cast get together in January and a possible photo shoot to go with an announcement of the full cast but take that with a pinch of supersalt. There have also been some more mumurings ofJude Law joining the cast with General Zod and John 'Metallo' Corben mentioned as possible roles. Again take a rather large pinch on that one.
Some suit details are also leaking through - expect to see some more darker colours for the costume and a 3D Superman symbol.
Not a bad choice, IMO.
Havent seen her much of her work, but was very much impressed with her performance in "Wonderland". I have no doubt that she will be great. Hopefully an offical word from WB will be announced soon.

I had trouble picturing Bosworth as Lane, but after seeing that pic, I have to say that I'm sold on that casting.
I remember her from "Ladder 49" and "Rules of Attraction". She had supporting parts in both of those and she handled herself extremely well.

She wasnt in ladder 49.
The woman in that movie was Jacinda Barrett, who does look an awful lot like her

Solid choice. Looks the part, is hot, and can act.

Exactly.
Never would've thought of it myself, I have to admit, but I'm sold. She'd be perfect.

Unfortunately, there isnt much known about Routh ( Rhymes with South :D ) at this moment.
I do know he's appeared on One life to Live, Mtv's Undressed, and has made a few short appearances on Will & Grace.
Sorry I couldnt be more helpful.

I don't think he looks ANYTHING like Superman should.... My opinion... Hopefully they change the actor for the millionth time... Though Bosworth looks quite good as Lois! :)

Bosworth looks more like Lana Lang if you ask me.
I've never heard of Brandon Routh but in that pic he looks like Dustin Diamond on steroids.

Dustin Diamond on steroids is the perfect description of Superman. He's not supposed to be all musclebound. I hate it when people think that Superman is going to be stronger if he has bigger muscles. He draws his power from the sun, not some work out regimin. I think this Routh guy is a good choice, as long as he can't act (I've never seen him). He surely looks the part.

Sure, why not!
Seriously though, I hope his presence doesn't weaken the film. I've always believed that a hero is only as good as the villian, so Singer covered his bases there by casting Spacey, but I think Spacey can only make this guy look so good, and he has to do the rest himself.

Yeah. I agree with the whole "a hero is only as good as his/her villian" view. Atleast Spacey is signed, and sealed. He'll definately have his work cut out for him by carrying Routh. Which is likely to happen in all probability. Especially since Routh's past work is very, very limited.
Many love to compare Routh with Chris Reeve. Which is to be expected. But while Christopher Reeve was an unknown actor as well, he was though, a classically trained actor. With years of theater acting under his belt (this is something a then-unknown Hugh Jackman also had, when Singer signed Jackman to play Wolverine). Sadly, Routh has no experience in the art of theater. And has only had a few small roles in some TV shows.
In closing, I think the new "Superman" film will be good. And I believe Spacey will undoubtedly, steal the fucking show. But as far as Routh is concerned, I'm not expecting much. And hope to god he wont just be doing an impression of Reeve's Clark/Superman.
