Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind got completely bitched. How the hell does that great movie leave empty handed as far as I saw. This really makes no fucking sense. How did that movie get nothing?

Jim Carrey wasen't even nominated for Best Actor! Man this pisses me off.

i agree

but 4 out of the last 5 years the movie that the critics choose as best picture also won at the oscars. and 9 out of the last 10 years the best director was the same

Good. Maybe Martin Scorsese has a chance to win the Oscar now with his win last night.

uh am I watching the same show as you guys? Eternal won Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay(which is 10x better than Adapted).

BTW, Sideways is offically overrated now. It won all the big catagories.

I thought that there were plenty of movies this year that were a lot better than Eternal Sunshine, Sideways was one of them. Eternal Sunshine was alright, but not as great as everyone said it was (in my opinion). I would support nominations for Best Actor/Actress, though, and maybe for Original Screenplay as well. As for Sideways being overrated, I think it would be a fine choice as Best Picture, Actor, what have you. Of my two favorite movies of the year (The Life Aquatic and Collateral) one doesn't have a chance in hell of getting any nominations and the other will be lucky to receive a couple. I'm not complaining.

I guess not, because the critic's choice I watched had Sideways winning best picture..

Listen. I liked Eternal Sunshine as much as the next guy, but anyone could tell you that it has no chance to win the Oscar for Best Picture. It's just not going to happen. The fact is year in and year out, the award for Best Picture goes to some complete piece of crap that no one other than some snobby film geek actually enjoyed. I mean, outside of Gladiator, when is there ever a non-drama movie competing for the top prize. The award shows are a bunch of crap, and only opinions. Learn to live with that like I did, and you'll be better off.

I think he was thinking of it as action. I consider it a drama...

It could be considered a drama, sure. But with the amount of fighting and battles, I consider it to be more of an action movie. My fav, JAWS, has mucho character development and the such that Gladiator did, but it would never be called a drama, but rather an action movie.

I consider Gladiator to be an action movie, not a drama. Didn't think it was as big a stretch as you obviously do. I mean, if you think Gladiator cleanly fits into the drama genre, then clearly to you, everything is a drama and you would be the one getting the "HUH?" and the unnecessary sarcasm. I guess next time I can try to clarify my statement a bit more...
