I've heard from a few different sources that Miramax is going to release The Burning DVD R1 sometime in the future, does anyone know a more specific time, or even if what I've heard is false?

I've heard absolutely nothing about this although I've been hoping for The Burning to come to DVD for a long time now. Talk about a horror movie that is overdue for release. We got Terror Train in 2004. Maybe theirs still hope for The Burning in 2005.

Thats cool, but The Burning was an early Weinstien bros. movie and they're the owners of Miramax, I wonder how MGM got a hold of it?

The Burning has been released on DVD, I've got the uncut R2 version. I'm assuming those wishing for an R1 release haven't got a multi-region player?

There's no way I'm paying $900 for a region free player, so that means I have to wait for the R1 version to arrive.

Hey 'Kaos' there is a region 0 PAL DVD distributed by Dragon that retails for $23.95 unfortunately it is 'Fullscreen' (ouch!) there is a review for it on DVD Maniacs! Here is a snipet from that review, in regards to the print quality...

Video:
The film is presented fullframe and while the image quality is passable during the lighter, daytime scenes, when the sun sets the image looks pretty bad. Colors are pretty soft and the image looks like it was taken from a video source. Could it have come from Amazon's tape?

I happen to own a copy on VHS which is distributed by MGM, so that would explain why they have aquired the DVD rights. Personally, I feel it better to wait for the MGM DVD as it will be in 'Anamorphic Widescreen' with a few extras. The VHS is the 'Unrated' version, the only thing we dont know yet is to wether or not the DVD will be the R-Rated or the 'Unrated-Version... and 'The Mack' this info on the MGM DVD is 100% acurate, so rejoice my friend!

Here is the link to DVD Maniacs, check out "The Burning" in the DVD reviews section~

You can convert any stand alone player in to a multi region player, all you need to do is find the region hacks for your machine. A quick Google search usually does the trick!;)

Thanks, but 2 problems, 1 since I live in the U.S., I have an NTSC fromat TV, so I can't play PAL stuff. 2 I hate fullscreen, so I'm taking your advice and waiting for the MGM widescreen to come out. Much thanks for the info.
