I know i'm jumping the guns already, but i think it's good to speculate.
do you guys think this will be another garbage year for movies? i know especially this is mainly coming from my January anger, being that all wide releases are defecated from studios.

the only movies i want to see are those that went limited in december but still aren't playing nearby (most, except Hotel Rwanda aren't nearby).

I don't even care about star wars that much, i'll see it just to see how Lucas ties new school with old school but not dying to see... others?

There's a good chance that STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH will kick everything's ass at the box office, as the buzz for this is much greater than the last two prequels. Also, have a look at:

BATMAN BEGINS

WAR OF THE WORLDS

KING KONG

THE HITCHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY

And these are just the summer blockbusters. So much more is coming out this year. I see this as being a much better year for films, myself.

Precisely what I think, jeo4. This year will have plenty of shit (especially this month, which might make a record in it), but overall it will be the best year of the new millenium, so far.

And I think War of the Worlds will own the year in the way of popularity. Spielberg hasn't had a real megahit since Jurassic Park, but when he wants to conquer the world with a big hit, he can do it. It could be the film that saves Paramount from becoming another MGM.

i think its gonna be an excellent year...Batman Begins, Revenge Of The Sith and King Kong alone will make it great

Hmm...

Well, no. They are the studio that owns Indy, The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, after all.

Well, for me it's too hard to say because I don't usually know a lot about any movies coming until until a few months prior.

I'm looking forward to SIN CITY, THE BROTHERS GRIMM, and BATMAN BEGINS. I hope there'll be other real winners that I want to see down the road.
I was hoping CHOCOLATE FACTORY was going to be on that list, but after that screamingly bad teaser, it ain't happenin'. :(

We have Sin City, Batman Begins, ROTS, and War of the Worlds all coming up. From the looks of things, 2005 is going to be anything but a shitty year.

"Another shit year"????

Dawn of the Dead
Butterfly Effect
The Forgotten
Harry Potter 3
Collateral
F-911
Passion of the Christ... the system turns down a bankable star, the system is bucked and a religious film ROCKS the Box OFFICE!

Eternal Sunshine
Shaun of the Dead
Spidey 2
Hereo
Kill Bill
Manchurian Candidate
Man on Fire
Bourne Supremacy
House of Flying Daggers

etc...etc....

How can anyone say 2004 was a shit year for movies? I am a movie LOVER and it was a very good year for film! Sure, maybe it wasnt the best for COMEDIES..ie...certain genre types, but overall, 2004 was better than 2003..and 2005 has a kick ass lineup so far..and thats just the Big Office stuff as mentioned by others...

King Kong
War of the Worlds
Batman
Willie Wonka
Brothers Grimm
Fantastic Four
The conclusion to Star Wars

etc..etc...

I am SOOOOOO HYPED!!!!!

Im sure moviegroupie didn't mean to imply that 2004 was already a shit year for films, I mean his favorite film is Eternal Sunshine :)
