MINOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE BIG LEBOWSKI
Did anyone else notice that the Dude steals basically everything he says from other characters... I mean nearly EVERYTHING.... Not just the obvious ones. I just noticed this as I just rewatched this wonderful film. I was wondering if it was truly obvious or not.

Yeah, I didnt actually notice this at first. It wasnt until I heard someone mention it, probably on this forum. So when I rewatched it I did notice, its quite hilarious.

I had noticed that as well. I always chalked it up as he was an old stoner who was somewhat incapable of original thought. So he relied on quoting people extensively and said fuck a lot. Not that this made him an unappealing character in the context of the film because that is certainly not the case.

Can someone list some examples of The Dude stealing other people's lines?

One example is when he is in Lebowski's office talking to him about his rug, and he says "this aggression will not stand", which he saw George Bush saying on TV at the beginning of the movie.

Didn't Walter start that whole "That rug really tied the room together" thing that he kept using?
The Dude does have several quality lines of his own, like when Jackie says that "The brain is the biggest sex organ" and he comes back with "On you maybe."
Or when Maude goes into her thing about how some people utilize sex without emotional commitment and he says, with mock sincerity, "Oh, no!"
