View Full Version : Why can't we have nominations/lists in August sometime?

I know this is probably really ridiculous and will never go through but aside from other nominations or lists or posts or whatever we do, why can't we do it in August sometime, say....when all the independent/december movies will be released on DVD.

I know there are a few 'christmas' movies that won't be released until the following December anyway each year, but usually those don't make a big impact, unless they're "A Christmas Story" or "It's a Wonderful Life" which come around every 20 years or so....

But I just get really frustrated every year when I have to make my top 10 lists or we have 'Best This' and 'Best That' when I haven't even seen half of the movies I will end up thinking are the 'best' by then--I live in a non-cultured place that only gets really good movies when they come out on DVD.

I'm not saying we should do away with the Golden Schmoes or anything. I love the idea of that, but maybe we could have a posting/nomination or some kind again in August. I know it'd all be mainstream stuff again anyway, but most schmoes complain about how we never vote for the smaller stuff or put them in our lists when the end of the year comes around, but point is: A lot of us don't get the chance to watch those flicks til they come out on DVD.

By the time August arrives, a lot of people have forgotten or don't care about the movies of the previous year. Though it's an interesting idea.
