Pretty weak weekend. The bad weather might have something to do with that. Are We There Yet will do pretty well. I didn't think Ice Cube in a family movie would have so much appeal, but I was wrong. Should make about $17 million. Coach Carter is off 55% from last Friday. Good hold for In Good Company. Off only 35% from last Friday. I expected Precinct 13 to perform a lot better. Might make $8 million or so over the weekend. Gotta be considered a disappointment. Phantom expanded, but the audience isn't there. Sorry fans, but it's dying out. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it sucks ass. And last and definitely least, Elektra is off 70% from last Friday! Yikes. Sorry, but it's getting exactly what it deserves.

I'm kinda disappointed Precinct 13 didn't fare so well, since it looked like a pretty good movie, and I heard some good things about it. Everything else, bleh. No wonder January's a dumping ground for movies

I'm so glad Elektra is bombing badly. Hopefully it has a miserable existence on DVD.

I used to like Jennifer Garner.. a LOT. But after 13 Going on 30, the third and current seasons of Alias and now the promos for this shitfest + her giggling annoying-as-fuck persona in interviews, I'd rather shave my nuts with a rusty butcher's knife and dip them in turpentine before watching anything she's involved in.

I'd still hump her, but damn that is some righteous torture method.....you sicko!!

Happy to see IN GOOD COMPANY hold on well, I had no idea what the financial reception for it would be.

Here's hoping PRECINCT 13 will do better, since it looks like the best 2005 release out right now.

I'm really disappointed with the numbers for Elektra and (especially) Assualt on Precinct 13. I thought these were two kick ass action movies!

I really wish that Elektra and Phantom of the Opera were doing better :(

I still gotta get around to seeing Elektra... looks like I might only have a week or so to do it.

It didn't start snowing until Saturday , so i wouldn't blame the weather for the BO perf of some films , but it will no doubt affect Sat and Sundays numbers here in the Northeast .

That may be true for you dd, but here in the Midwest we got our snowstorm on Friday night, so it definitely had an effect around here.

It's a sad day when a PG rated Ice Cube movie is the number one film at the box office.

Haven't seen it, but it can't be that much worse than many other shitty movies that have been number one in the past (Coach Carter most recently).

Now I feel guilty for paying for WHITE NOISE and then watching ASSAULT after it was over without paying. WHITE NOISE sucked, ASSAULT did not.

I forgot about that , i would imagine all the films took a huge hit because of the weather , there was very little traffic on the roads all weekend over here . I guess the peep who planned on going this weekend will catch up next , so maybe all the films will have nice holdovers .

Assault has a pretty modest budget...it will turn a profit.

why is that?

I went to see it with my kids and there were a lot of families there laughing and enjoying the movie. While it was far from an Oscar contender, it was a light, harmless fun movie for the family.

sorry that every movie out can't be a fanboy wet dream...

It doesn't have to be a fanboy's wetdream. But what it does have to do is NOT BE a PG movie starring Ice Cube, a man with a record titled Amerikkka's Most Wanted.
