I saw this one really boring Sunday. I mean, shit, it did have Dennis Quaid in it, so how bad can it be?

Overall it stunk, but I was really taken with the Givovanni Ribisi character. I loved that guy. I'm no huge fan of Gio, but I thought he was really outstanding in this. He kept the whole movie afloat. (Get it?) I'd go as far to say I think he was one of the most memorable characters of the year. For me, anyway.

I've never seen the original. This one started out pretty damn good, gorgeous cinematography, nice use of music. Too bad that mortally wounded it with cliche 2 dimensional characters (minus Giovanni) and lame plotting and dialogue.

And who the fuck cast NELLY? Man, he SUCKS. He was totally the "token black guy" too. I would've been insulted by that shit, I were him. I like his music and what not, but stay out of the pictures, son.

I had absolutely no desire to see it. Even less now. :D

Well I saw it and really enjoyed it. One of the more underrated movies of 2004.

5/10, enjoyable but beside that stupid. But great premise... except for the rebuilding of the plane.. they should have all died... one by one

I was also impressed with Ribisi in this flick. I actually nominated him for best supporting actor for the Schmoes. I thought it was a fun movie. Not a whole lot of weight thematically, but entertaining.

Eh, it was okay. Nothing special, but as an average action flick, it was alright. It killed a couple hours nicely. I've seen better, but I've seen a lot worse too.

6/10

Saw this early in the week and thought it portrayed fairly well the plight of the downed aircraft and its passengers within the Gobi desert.

Absolutely stunny vista's and cinematography (which remain throughout the film, which i was pleased about) help to give a sense of grandeur as well as the sheer ineptness of attempting to escape this inhospitable environment on foot.

The acting although not oscar worthy was not all that bad, the characters made a decent team after intial struggles and battle of ego's. Ribisi was very good as the model and ultra efficient worker, as well as remaining in his padded green jacket even in the height of midday sun lol, and did bring a very different depth of acting to the film. Quaid was also good.

Overall a good adventure story really, detailing the struggle over adversory in order to survive.

***and for the record Nelly is not in this film, although i can see how you may have thought that, they do look similar facially. It is infact Sticky Fingaz, actor in low budget roles such as Gas and upcoming House of the Dead 2***

Lol, I caught the first one over the weekend, saw a bit of it, but it was absolutely atrocious. lame and cheesy, made me laugh too, son.

the first time I saw a little quick flash of the video game scene, I had to rewind and go in slow mo to see what that was. Then I realized it was him incorporating vid game scenes into it. bah, lame crap.
