Antonio's usual great list. Atticus Finch is one of the greatest characters of American culture. Frank Galvin is one of Newman's best roles (and that is really saying something.) Tom Hagan is easily my favorite character in the whole saga. The only guy who keeps his cool all through both movies.
A couple more: Paul Biegler (James Stewart) in the great Anatomy of a Murder. A legal ace who'd rather be fishing or playing Piano than anything except kicking ass in the courtroom. Does the whole Matlock "I'm just an ole country lawyer..." bit better than anybody. Stewart's best role, IMHO.
His opponent, Claude Dancer, the Assistant Attorney General "...from the big city of Lansing" (as Biegler calls him...) (George C. Scott.) It was Scott's second film and he stood on equal terms w/ James Stewart, a critically respected, Oscar-winning and wildly popular star.

Most definately Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird. I'd also like to add Henry Drummond (Spencer Tracy) and Matthew Harrison Brady (Fredric March) in Inherit The Wind.

Bruce McGill in The Insider. When he shouted 'Wipe that smirk off your face!' at Wings Hauser, you could hear the whole auditorium exhale.

A great list, Antonio. I agree with each one of them, though my favorite is and always will be, Atticus.
