Hollywood thinks you, the movie goer, is dumb. (Spoilers to Hide and Seek)

What I am more pissed about now after realizing it is that Hide and Seek is the highest grossing movie at the theatre. 22 Million dollars! EDITED OUT BY THE POSTER My friend dragged me to see this piling steaming piece of shit. And for the record I used a student I.D. card along with a 2$ off coupon on the beverages and popcorn. I hate how people could make this movie the highest grossing movie in America. If this piece of trash can become the #1 movie then I honestly believe that I can make a movie that comes in the top 10 grossing movies for a weekend, (with the right promotion of course). But shh, don't tell anyone about my ending. I am going to have the BUTLER DO IT! Ha ha ha...no one and I mean no one will ever suspect the BUTLER. Bwah ha ha ha!!!

Back to Hollywood. Are people who paid to see this movie not insulted? Do you really not feel that people in Hollywood are just sitting there thinking:

"Ok, we got DeNiro, so now all we need is a twist ending and some spooky music and we got ourselves a movie."

"Don't we need writers?"

"Writers? What for? The name of the movie is Hide and Seek. Don't you get it? We can cleverly have someone saying come out come out where ever you are. JUST LIKE THEY ARE PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK!!! It's brilliance in it's purist form!!"

"Well how bout writers for the twist ending"

"Writers for the twist ending? Cmon, havent you ever seen other movies. We can just use there twist ending, and make it ours!!! No one will notice because American movie goers don't pay any attention!"

I honestly think, and I say this in all seriousness, that people should go on strike seeing this awful movies that hollywood throws at us and tells us to see. Especially any crap made by this director.

I agree with this rant. But in a way this is nothing new. Anyone can tell Hollywood has always felt this way about the public. It's only gotten worse though since the executives in town took over the film industry and killed creativity. But the problem is, the average movie going public really doesn't pay attention to this. They just sit there in their seats, munching on popcorn, not even realizing that they just got ripped off by a bunch of rich assholes in suits who figure the audience wont know the wiser. That's why I refuse to see alot of Hollywood trash thrown out over the course of a year. Especially in the realm of horror movies, I know they will never take the genre seriously as long as they can recycle lame ideas and put out two thousand remakes and continue to make alot of money.

But really, stress now-a-days has hit an all time high. The jobless rate is up, we have a war going, and our economy is on life support.

We don't want anything new as a nation. With all the stress, we just want to forget about it. Pretend we are in another world for about 90 minutes.

This has been true of humans for millions of years; we are creatures of habit. When we get into a groove, we like to stay in that groove, and sometimes even fight to stay in. We want at least 12 racial jokes in each comedy. We want to cry when when the family of a hero die, and cheer him on when he goes to avenge them. We want to worry if the blonde white woman will trip while running away from the serial killer. If Hide and Seek works for people, then who appointed you the cina-King to decree that all those who opose your viewpoint as to a good movie are ignorant assholes?

(I do agree with most of your points, but I have enough class not to call someone a "stupid fuck" when they disagree with me.)

Ok so if I said "I think anyone who likes the OC is a fucking twat who deserves to go die in a hole" you won't mind because it's my opinion. Now just hold on. On joblo, I see it all the time, people putting down the mainstream, in the horror forum, insulting guys who don't like lynch, or the old classics, and casual insults thrown into schmoe reviews, or whatever (and these are, what do you call them, respected member, so they aren't people who get banned or are just trying to cause trouble). And nobody says boo about it.
Since this is the rant rant rant section I just don't see the point of singling out this exception (even though you did say you tend not to single out these things, but this one was just too extreme). I don't think this guy's trying to say he's better than everyone else. He's not me.

For example, Regular DVD, Special Edition DVD, Ultra Special Edition DVD, Super Duper Directors Cut Deleted Scene's DVD. I mean that just really pisses me off when that happens. Its called hsving an opinion dude. Everyone has one. I learned that a long time ago. My most hated movie of the year (2004) was 'The Forgotten'. But my best friend loved it. I didnt call him a stupid fuck and that he needed to be shot for liking it. I just said to him "well, I thought it sucked royal" and that was that.

A certain few on this site have nicknamed me Angry Pimp and the King of Rants because of how many rant threads I've started, but even I have never been mad enough to call others names for liking something I dont. I hate American Idol, but I dont piss and moan cause its the #1 tv show in America. I just ignore it and not let it get to me. So a movie you hated got #1, live with it. Yes it had an over-used now unoriginal ending, but I didn't give a damn, I was still thoroughly entertained, and was glad I spent the money to escape for a coupla hours! ;)

I ahte to break it to you but movie goers are dumb. The people on this boards and boards similar make up a very small minority in the movie viewing public. Most people can't tell one director from the next, and they sure as hell don't care about who is the writer or who developes the screen play. So movies with major stars, and crappy storylines will continue to make top gross.
By the way I'm not saying whether this movie is good or bad becuae I haven't seen it but, ya know.

You obviously didn't even read my post or you took it so far out of context that I have no idea where you are coming from.
There was a discussion on this board about why bad movies sometimes make alot of money. I was not refering to hide and seek in my comments I was refering to those movies. Alittle off topic but that is kind of where the discussion was heading.
I did not call you stupid. I was refering to the general movie goer audience. And if you had read what I said more carefully you would have seen that I excluded posters on this board, because many of us understand that who writes, directs, and developes the screen play on a movie are far more important than who acts in it.
If I were to change anything about my previous post I would change it to "most movie goers" and from "dumb" to "ignorant". But I didn't mean to offend, so sit back and relax.
