I saw Brother to Brother recently. It's only playing in certain cities, but I happened to catch it when I was on vacation with my parents in Boston. The movie is definitely an indie film, realistic acting, powerful performances. it's gritty too, and it really has a great script. the flashbacks are all in black and white and it feels like an old 1920's silent film. If you haven't this movie, definitely check it out.
it's the story of a college age black painter who is searching for answers to a lot of life questions and stumbles upon an old man living in harlem at the homeless shelter that he works at. they become friends, and he finds out the old man was once a poet/writer for a magazine during the harlem renaissance.
check it out....i think website is
