You know, those cool shots they use when dissolving from one scene to another? Let's hear some of your favs!

For example:

ALIENS
Ripley's ship has just been discovered, with her asleep inside. It starts with a close-up of her face, then dissolve to a shot of the earth, that fits perfectly around the shape of her head.

HIGHLANDER
1. Macleod has killed the immortal in the parking lot at Madison Sqaure Garden, and as he's rushing out, the camera goes up into the ceiling, and when it passes through, we arrive looking over a hill in Scotland 1536.

2. Macleod has been banished from village in 1536. We get a close-up of his sad face, which dissolves into a mural of Mona Lisa on a building in New York City.

Deep Cover, the Laurence Fishburne film. A guy walks from left to right across the screen, and the next scene follows him, from left to right, almost like he's pulling back a curtain as he walks. Bill Duke was the Director, so I'm guessing it was his idea. In any case, very, very cool.

The ultimate dissolve is in Psycho.Where the shower head becomes Janet Leigh's eye and zooms out very, very slowly. That was so sweet.

In the beginning of MOUSE HUNT, when the camera pulls back down a manhole and comes out showing a roll of string. A brilliant shot indeed.

I quite liked when the zoomed in one Kate Winslet's eye, and then when they zoomed off the eye it was the old Rose in Titanic.

there is this insanely genius fucking transition shot in The Man Who Wasn't There.i'll try my best to describe it,it's very hard to explain...

a silver hubcap from a wrecked car rolls down a deserted road as the backround fades to black leaving only the hubcap on screen.slowly, the hubcap morphs into a doctor's headlight as the doctor himself and 2 other men appear on screen.

see this movie now!!! the coen bros rule!!!

Memento.

When it would go into black and white.I thought that was pretty cool.

When Andy Kaufman lies on that table and laughs when he finds out that the "miracle doctor" is a fake. It disolves into him dead in his coffin in MAN ON THE MOON.

This thread reminds me of Battlefield Earth...look on the back cover of the VHS...Joblo is quoted as saying something like "Really cool scene transitions!"

Hahaha...Joblo got quoted on one of the worst movies ever.
