I don't care what anyone esle might think, I think this movie looks pretty funny. Plus I love Tommy Lee Jones. So I'm definately looking forward this movie! :)

Looks just as lame, generic and unfunny as every other Stephen Herek film that came before it (though Bill & Ted ruled). I don't know why Tommy Lee Jones would make this movie, or why anyone would pay to see it.

Alas, it'll probably make a ton of money and inspire a direct-to-video sequel anyways. Hurrah.

I don't think this movie looks good at all, but I thought the part where the guy (Bernie Mac or Cedric the Entertainer, I don't know which one it is :D ) does the flip and crashes on the table was pretty funny..... for some reason. :D

I think the end is near for Tommy Lee Jones's film career. That's what I think from watching the trailer and television spots for Man of the House. A damn shame, since he's one of my favorite actors. I'll probably skip. There's no way I'm paying $10 to see this.

Humor is very subjective, so if you want to see this and think it looks funny, hey, to each their own. But every time I see the trailer or a TV slip, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Looks absolutely dreadful. I used to really like Tommy Lee Jones, but when's the last time he gave a good performance? When he's done something a little different from his usual thing? Ugh. And why the hell is Stephen Herek still getting work? He must have a really good agent or something.

Cedric The Entertainer is an oxymoron

She's gorgeous.

I wish that she would be in a teen movie or something to show off her body, like, ASAP.

The only Man of the House I will be watching is the one with Jonathan Taylor Thomas from ten years ago... :D

I do too. And she's one of the best things about the movie. Completely loveable in this movie!

It's looking like Man of the House is this year's Hollywood Homicide. An admittedly formulaic comedy that nobody likes but me. I enjoyed the hell out of Hollywood Homicide and I enjoyed the hell out of Man of the House. Tommy Lee Jones is THE man! And while the cheerleaders start off as caricatures, there characters get better as the movie goes along. It does get off to a shaky start. After a brief amusing scene with Cedric the Entertainer, the movie goes to an action sequence that felt kind of awkward. Especially when they use split screens. Using split screens can be effective when used the right way. The TV show 24 uses them greatly. So did the Hulk. But here it felt out of placed and became very distracting. Fortunately it's only used in the beginging and the rest of the movie is hugely enjoyable. Atleast IMHO.

So, like Hollywood Homicide, I'm alone in my opinion. Whatever. It's everyone else's loss. ;)

Im sorry but this movie looks terrible. Just another comedy flick that might do okay at the box office.

I saw it Friday night and really enjoyed it.
Sure it was formulaic and you could see the ending coming a mile away, but it was still damn funny and a great ride...
for fuck's sake, I don't need every movie to challenge me to think, once in awhile it's nice to just sit back and be entertained

I just saw this movie, only for Tommy Lee Jones and Monica Keena, and it wasn't huge surprise but I mildly enjoyed it. Movie wasn't as bad as the awful previews are playing them out. Cedric "The Entertainer" was only in it for the opening sequence, a scene in the middle and the ending, he didn't annoy me as much as I suspected.

Most of the girls were cute (some of them were annoying, that black or latino one...shut the F up already! (and I'm not being racist either)), but Monica Keena was my favorite. I've liked her since "Freddy vs. Jason" and saw this movie primarily just to support her. I thought she expressed her character well. After this and FvJ (as well as her bitchy part in "Dawson's Creek" several years ago), she has that rare aspect of SCREEN PRESENCE, good acting or not. Admittedly, some (I said some) of her acting was bad in FvJ, despite her better moments and how cute she was in it. However, her acting was much better here (while still be cute as ever), and it showed that she can be a believable actress despite how many horror fans want to burn her for her "bad" moments in FvJ. Then again, despite her setbacks in FvJ, I already knew she was a good actress, because of her part in "Dawson's Creeks." She was a real bitch, and she relished in the role.

I also saw this Tommy Lee Jones, I've always liked him as an actor. Here, he plays the straight man again and he's still good in this type of part. Although he should lay off the serious/straight character part for a while to avoid being typecast. Then again, he was probably typecast for this too. Regardless, he was good and funny in his usual subtle "serious/straight man" ways.

This movie isn't great by any means, but I mildly enjoyed it. I will also say that it is a decent movie and nowhere near any worst criteria lists despite what some people want to say (despite the awful previews and that fact it stole its title from a JTT movie from a decade ago).

Actually, after seeing the movie, I don't blame the movie for using the title "Man of The House." The movie focused 51% more percent on Tommy Lee Jones than ditzy cheerleaders (although each one of them stil has enough presence, some annoying). I think its just a coincidence that this movie happened to use the title as well, that's all.

My rating: **1/2 out of 4.

Monica Keena was good in Dawson's Creek and ok in Freddy Vs Jason but she was given NOTHING to do in this movie. NOTHING at ALL!

To me the one who really stole the movie was Kelli Garner. She's also the only one who is really given anything much to do among the cheerleaders.
