Fox Home Entertainment has finally announced the two-disc release of The Day After Tomorrow which stars Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film will be available to own from the 24th May this year, priced at around $26.98. The film will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen along with both an English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include a commentary by Director/Co-writer Roland Emmerich and Producer Mark Gordon, a second audio commentary by Co-writer Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Cinematographer Ueli Steiger, film Editor David Brenner and Production Designer Barry Chusid, a pre-visualisation featurette, a pre-production meeting, storyboard and concept galleries, an Eye of the Storm: Filming The Day After Tomorrow featurette and a Pushing the Envelope: Visual Effects featurette. Completing the package will be deleted scenes with optional audio commentary by Roland Emmerich and the producer Mark Gordon, The Force of Destiny: The Science and Politics of Change featurette, a feature on scoring the movie as well as multiple trailers for The Day After Tommorow, Alien Quadrilogy set, Alien Vs Predator, Independence Day and Man on Fire. We'll bring you the artwork shortly.

Smart move by Fox here.. Release the R1 release with barely any extras, only to release this one now... Oh well, more deleted scenes and the featurettes should cool..

Wow, that's just double the amount of suckiness.

What? The Day After Tomorrow didn't get a 2-disc sent on R1. God, hell must have frozen over! 2-disc over here isn't too bad so you've got something decent on your way.

WHY!?! A second disc still wouldn't justify me buying this piece of crap.

Last weekend whilst in HMV I noticed a third Day After Tomorrow DVD! It was the making of the movie but I can't seem to find it anywhere else. Perhaps it was one of HMV's exclusives but why a third disc is needed to explain how they made this movie goes over my head.

I didn't really like The Day After Tomorrow (5/10 or C-) but I think I'd buy it because it's something I'd just want to watch when I'm bored, and I love Emmy Rossum.

Fox is really doing a great job, IMO, with their collector's series. I too love this artwork and hope that they come up with something equally impressive for the 2-disc I, Robot and Man On Fire sets coming out the same day. I'm a sucker for disaster flicks, and I've planned on getting this one since I passed on the single disc edition. Looking forward to the DTS.
