Is Anyone Else Having Problems With Their GET SHORTY: 2 Disk Special Edition??

i bought this on tuesday... i watched it.. and at a very specific time it freezes and pixelates on me.

It is when Delroy, Hackman, Travolta and that other white dude have that first meeting in Hackmans Office (the one when Travolta tells Hackman not to introduce him or say anything at all about him.. but then hackman does)

Thinking it was the disk (even though it looked mint) i took it back to best buy today and got a new one. Came home to see if it was still fucked... fast forwarded through it and it did the same exact thing at the same exact time... thinking now that it was my dvd player, i took it to my friends dvd player to see if it worked on his... it didnt, and paused at the exact same scene!

Im real anal about my dvd's... and this is pissing me off!

The only good that came from this is... inside the dvd they have a ticket to see BE COOL for free... and now i have 2 tickets because i kept the one that came in the original purchase and the one in the second dvd!! (Which will make for a nice cheap date next friday or saturday.. haha)!

How strange. I just bought the Get Shorty 2 disc CE last night from Best Buy. I haven't watched it yet, but I probably will tonight. If there's any problems, I'll post a response.

Thanks for the awesome idea, SkyNet. If I do return the DVD to Best Buy, I'll make sure to keep the free ticket as well. You always have to take advantage of the opportunities you're given. ;)

As I said, I did watch Get Shorty last night. And there were no problems with the DVD. So, I really don't know what to tell you about yours. Is it still giving you problems, or not?

I watched mine as well with no such problems. I wonder if your Best Buy got a bad case of them or something. I've heard about that happening. For instance there is a scene in my Fast and the Furious DVD where when the layer switch occurs, it freezes very noticably and so does my friend's who bought his at the same time. However another friend of ours who got it at a different Best Buy doesn's have the obvious layer switch on his. I found this to be interesting and asked around and from I can tell, this does happen now and then... Hope that helps and maybe your problem is just that simple. Maybe you can just return it at another Best Buy and get one that doesn't do that. :D

My mom picked it up and I have seen no problems with it yet. Best Buy seems to sometime have special problems with some of their stuff, prolly cause they order most of their stuff independently, like for example the saw DVD with its extra disc and whatnot.

I just bought the DVD today and I have the same problem you had. Freezes at the same part for like 30 seconds. It's annoying because I can't even fast forward through the second it freezes at; I lose all 30 seconds.

sweet... not really.. but it is good to know someone else is having the same exact problem i am having. So does that mean that there must have been a bad batch of DVD's shipped out??

Moose is in NY and i am in MD... no idea... i guess i may take it to Target or something and do a simple exchange (keep the free ticket though... so ill have 3 free... MGM deserves the loss of $$ for making bad disks (thats how i can justify it to myself...!!))

Lol yeah. I might try e-mailing MGM though and see if they'll just send me a replacment (I'm sure I'll have to send my defective one first).

I had the EXACT same problem. I looked on the bottom, and it was scratched already. I know I didn't do it. So I took it back, got a new one, and now it works fine. :cool:

ya... i eventually took mine back to TARGET and said i got it for my birthday and just wanted to do an even exchange. I did, and that disk worked perfectly!

I guess Best Buy just got bad disks in.

On the upside... Myself and 2 friends got to see Be Cool for free!!
