I sort of disliked this film , but after 2nd viewing, i dislike it less ;)
despite the bad acting, there was a great premise here and great potential to be a phenomenal flick.
namely the doctor was a terrible actor. and from the getgo, i could see how there could be a sequel (and there will be), but I won't expect it to be any better... more of the same.
definately original in its own way and intricately layed out. others?
EDIT -- great video and audio feed as well.

I'd appreciate the DVD even more if Lion's Gate had actually put out the two disc edition that's rumoured to appear later on in the year first, rather than this piss poor excuse for getting a kickass case and nothing else release.
That 2 disc one is coming by Saw 2, methinks. More money that way.

I also liked this film more on a second viewing, but I can't believe the crap DVD that Lions Gate put out.

The audio is great on the DVD, some of the best I've heard. The LIONS GATE logo thunder literally shakes my room on the DTS track haha. And of course, the film is great, despite it's horrendous acting, some of the worst I've seen. 9/10.
DVD:
Movie- 9
Video- 8
Audio- 10
Extras- 4
Overall- 8

I loved it when I saw it in theaters and I love it more now on DVD.This was a simple film which had a good story and concept. The ending was great at first I kinf od sawwhat was coming but not the way it happened. The acting was ok.It's a great suspense film I wouldn't really classify it as horror I think the trailer was kind of misleading I was expecting more of a horror film but it isnt really that bad.Still the movie is fantastic and I cannot wait for the sequel.
Ialso would agree on the shitty dvd release the dvd is dry nothing on it worth while just a cool.Recommend this film highly

I would like to see an unrated version of the movie. I read somewhere (I thought it was on imdb, but I just checked and it's not there, so I don't remember where it was) about various changes made to get an R rating, such as more blood in the stabbing scene and end "saw" scene (I wanted to SEE it, and I got nothing! Yet, oddly, an image apparently from that scene that isn't in the movie actually does show up on the cover of the DVD...), and also, as well as some sound effects being taken out, I read something about the coloring of the whole movie, which had to be changed to give the movie a more even tone. I wonder if this being changed back to original would improve the movie?
By the way I was disappointed by the movie, so I would like to see an improved version.

Maybe its just me but i did not mind the bad acting in saw at al. I was expecting a cliche serial killer movie like all those pathetic excuse for movies that offer nothing but a very small peak at Angelina Jolie's tits. I was pleasantly surprised with this movie, and i think that bad acting was kind of intentional because the actors were so cliche and bad i kept trying to guess "oh that cop guy HAS to be the killer, no wait, that nurse guy is even MORE obvious with his dumbass "misterious" looks" etc. and in the end i got the full effect.
Odd but bad acting actually helps that movie, it makes you think you know exactly what you are watching, another serial killer flick with a sorry twist you saw comming for the entire movie, but it is not that at all.

I don't think that the bad acting helped, nor do I think bad acting can really ever help. But I don't think the bad acting took much away from the movie. On the second viewing I did notice the acting was not quite up to par, to be nice.
