Dunno if this has already been posted anywhere but I just found this news from the folks at anchor bay...

Fango just got the scoop from a source at Anchor Bay Entertainment regarding new titles, dates and content for the company’s heavy upcoming horror DVD slate. Among the most exciting news is that the Bay has acquired a slew of Mario Bava films for new disc releases in 2006. While these titles have been out on DVD before, the source says, "We’re going to go back and start from scratch, and put together new special editions for each one." Among these movies will be KIDNAPPED (pictured), the road thriller previously released Stateside in a limited edition titled RABID DOGS before new scenes were added recently by Bava’s son Lamberto; both versions of the film will be part of the disc package.

In addition, there are fresh Divimax releases of EVIL DEAD II and HALLOWEEN 4 and 5, each with brand new special features, on the horizon. The company has picked up BABY BLOOD, Alain Robak’s gruesome French saga of a mother and her bloodthirsty unborn child, and Don Coscarelli’s pre-PHANTASM comedy KENNY & COMPANY, starring PHANTASM’s Michael Baldwin; the latter hits June 14 with a new transfer and special features overseen by the director. The Bay will also issue HORROR 101, its sequel HORROR 102 and MUSEUM OF THE DEAD on a single disc April 19, the same day as its special edition of Stevan Mena’s MALEVOLENCE (see item here). As for previously announced titles, here’s how the schedule looks, with confirmed supplements noted:

May 3:
• THE ENTITY (2.35:1 widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, featurette including backstory on the true events that inspired the film, trailer, poster/still gallery, DVD-ROM screenplay)

May 17:
• CLASS OF 1984 (director Mark Lester’s preferred cut in 1.85:1 widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, new 5.1 audio, commentary by Lester, alternate TV footage, trailer, TV spot, DVD-ROM screenplay)
• QUICKSILVER HIGHWAY (full-frame, commentary by Mick and Cynthia Garris, interview with Matt Frewer, storyboard gallery, trailers, DVD-ROM teleplay)

June 14:
• FREAKED (1.85:1 widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, new 5.1 audio, commentary, behind-the-scenes material, deleted scenes, still gallery, storyboards, trailer, DVD-ROM screenplay)

June 28:
• RACE WITH THE DEVIL (Divimax hi-def 1.85:1 transfer, commentary by producer Paul Maslansky, interview with Peter Fonda, more)

August 9:
• THE DEAD NEXT DOOR (special features TBA)
• THE LOCALS (widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, 5.1 audio, commentary by writer/director Greg Page, trailer)

August 23:
• THE CARD PLAYER (widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, 5.1 audio, exclusive new interviews with director Dario Argento, FX creator Sergio Stivaletti and others, more)
• TRAUMA (widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, exclusive new interviews with Dario Argento and others, Tom Savini behind-the-scenes FX material, more)

September 6:
• BAD DREAMS (details TBA)
• CEMETERY MAN (widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, new documentary, interviews with Michele Soavi, Anna Falchi and others, more)

October 9
• SEASON OF THE WITCH/THERE’S ALWAYS VANILLA Double Feature (details TBA)

Finally some news on Cemetery Man! but September is just too long a wait!!

Sucks that I'll have to re-buy all my Mario Bava titles again (and I know I will as long as they improve the transfers and keep the Tim Lucas commentaries)

I think I'll probably re-buy Evil Dead II (again!!) seeing how these "extra features" turn out, I always found it stupid that the current edition has a featurette containing short clips behind the scenes and yet doesn't include them in their entirety

The Entity is spooky possesed chick flick, Im glad its making its way to dvd.

Im extatic that finally Cemetery Man and Dario Argentos The Card Player are coming out soon. Im dying to get Cemetery man...

Bad Dreams is a kick ass little flick! Im glad its finally coming out, its one of those gems from the 80s that no one seems to remember.

Other films that Anchor Bay should try and hunt down and release:

- Phantasm II and III
- Night of the Creeps
- Stuart Gordons Dolls
- Stuart Gordons Robot Jox
- Monster Squad
- Terrorvision

I'm looking forward to all of them. I was going to try to single out one or two to discuss, but nope; I'm looking forward to all of them.

I could bitch about them re-releasing Evil Dead II, but I know I'm going to buy it, so I'll just be quiet.

eeexcellent, ill finally be able to see Cemetary Man, Class Of 1984 and Malevolence

also, I'll get Quicksilver Highway, The Dead Next Door and Season Of The Witch/There's Always Vanilla

i thought Thereas Always Vanilla was apparently lost forever? i know there was like 3 minutes of footage on the Millennium Edition of NOTLD but i thought that was all that was left....anyway, it'll be interesting to see what its like

My hats off to Living-Dead-Dude!!! Thanks for the terrific news, the title that I am looking forward to is "Kenny and Company". I grew up with this very lost film that I recommend to anyone who is a major fan of Don "Phantasm" Coscarelli. I am totally jacked to finally own K.A.C, this film was a staple of the early days of HBO...ahhhh those wonderful films from the 70's!!! :D
We get a film that has heart and features Michael Baldwin and Reggie Banister, there a elements within this film that have Don's touch, which foreshadow the feel of "Phantasm"!

Check out the Halloween night scenes for those elements. Kenny and Company was never released on video, so this is a very BIG deal to me...I cant freaking wait!!! YES!!!! :D :)

Thanks Dude!

Well, I won't be as kind.

Why the hell do they keep releasing the same movies over and over again??? I mean, how many fucking editions of the Evil Dead discs do we need? It's completely ridiculous that these movies keep getting released, while other films never released on DVD just sit on the shelf.

I will say, though, that I'm very happy to hear Bad Dreams is getting a release. I've always been a fan of Andrew Fleming's work (The Craft, Threesome) and this is definitely one of his best.

Driller-Killer has made a strong point that does need to be addressed. YES...Double Dipping! How many versions of anyone title are really needed? the plethora of films that have YET to be released is a crime to all whose favorites are non-existent to the DVD market!

The only one on this list that has never seen the light of day in any video format (Laser-VHS-Beta or LED) is "Kenny and Company" which was long over due in my book. Rights issues maybe one of the basic problems with getting certain titles out, but still it does make you question the true motive $$$ of seeing a film like "Evil Dead 2" being re-issued for the eighty-fifth billionth time!
