I've recently stumbled upon a site called DVD Spot... Since i hadn't updated my other Collection, i figured i would start off fresh. Please tell me what you think of my collection.

I've heard and seen the site, but I like to use www.dvdaficionado.com instead ;)

DVDafcionado has gone down hill, big time. Really slow loading time, and now you need subpages and what not which are a bitch to set up. I started all over with this one because Afcionado sucks.

I've made a thread on this before as well. I've always had DVDAF, but now I prefer DVDSpot. It's just set up much better. Little things make it better. Faster loading times, much cooler interface, 5 star rating instead of 4. You can make filters which are the same as folders on DVDAF for different genres or whatever you want. Also the submission and approval system is MUCH easier, and MUCH MUCH faster. I've had DVDs approved in 15 minutes. DVDSpot is also constantly adding features and takes suggestions from the users, DVDAF hasn't changed anything in in at least the last year, maybe longer. DVD Spot has my vote now and more people should definitely check it out.

I think I smell me making a DVD Spot account!
The covers look kinda ugly though.

All depends on what gets uploaded. If you see a cover in your collection you want to improve just submit a new cover that you have or found that looks better and note the reason at the bottom of the ticket and it will probably be approved.

All you have to do is leave it in your owned, which is what I do.

yeah, but when you reach 500 DVDs, it doesn't show them all does it?

I've read someone who has 1600 DVD's and it can show if you click the right thing. Although it is a little slower, it's because it has so many members and many picture to show.

I'm pretty sure if you make a donation to help them maintain the site it allows you to list up to 2000 per page.

You can change it to list ALL instead of using pages.

LOL, you know what movies you own why do you always have to see a picture of it?? I don't always feel like I have to see them all on one page anyways. Plus you can organize by filters, rating, UPC, title, etc.

Okay, how do you create subfolders on DVDSpot?

Not really folders but filters. Just go to manage filters, create a new one, and place a check in the box for the filter which applies to each movie.

I've have both DVDAF and DVDSpot accounts and at first I liked DVDAF a lot more just because I had used it first and was used to it. But the more I use spot, I'm begining to like it better. Aside from the regular features they offer, I really like "loaned" feature and stats they calculate for your collection.

Aye, DVD Spot's good for US users, but for UK Schomes such as myself it has to be DVD Aficiionado. Its popularity means there are much more Region 2 DVDs in their database, which is handy when you've got over 800 titles like me, mostly region 2, and you don't want to have to submit them all.

I couldn't find where to submit a new cover for approval. Anyone know where/how on DVD Spot to do this? Thanks.

Go to the listing of the DVD you want to update and below the DVD Details section there is a Spot Contributors box. At the bottom of that there is a link that says Click the here to submit corrections to the details of this DVD. There you go real easy.

Any Guzzlefish users out there?
I was wondering how dvdspot compares. Tthe "loaned" and "movie night" features look pretty cool.

DVD Spot is much better then Guzzlefish set-up wise. If more people continue to join and submit titles then it will grow exponantially.

Cool. Just signed up. I really like the "loaned" feature. Also, the admin sems to be really on topof things. I'd like to see a few more statistics offered (Guzzlefish provides more) but they seem to be adding new features all the time. It is really easy to contribute new titles as well.
Here's my collection:
