While I write a more serious script, I'm also writing a spoof of the werewolf genre, no movie in specific. The script is entitled "Instant Classic" (yeah, ego stroking . . . shut up!) and the concept/characters are already copyrighted so no harm in telling you.

The main concept is about a new werewolf that escapes home and enters a secret werewolf society. They tell him that someone is killing werewolves all around the world. They mention legend that says that every 50th werwolf that is born, it becomes 'special' in a way. If at any moment, all these 'chosen' ones die, werewolves will cease to exist (theit selves are separated, every werewolf in the world becomes a man and a wolf). Turns out that RORY, our main character is one of these chosen ones and he must be protected by the society.

I know, doesn't sound like a comedy but I'm trying something new in both the parody genre and the werewolf sub genre. Here are the first 3 pages, I want to know what you think.

Outs.

Hey, that was pretty funny. Some of the jokes reminded me of Family Guy in a few places...okay, most places, but I don't think that's a bad thing. FG fucking rules. (That "What the hell's 'Xing'?" line is pure Peter Griffin)

I think you're onto a winner. It's reminding me of not only FG, but Young Frankenstein, and that can't be detrimental, can it?

For what it's worth, you have my endorsement.

"I'm George Dubya Bush, and I approve this script."

P.S. I hope that's a tentative title...

How come when I open it it's all bunched together and not spaced out...?

Or is it supposed to be that way?

Some nice gags, man, good stuff. Speaking of werewolf films, isn't it about time we had a good one in the cinemas?

Those three pages were better than anything CURSED had to offer (aside from Christina Ricci, of course ;)). Muy bueno, my friend.

Needs more OMG OMG OMG *ORGASM*

Actually, the script was good, I would just take out that Man I Feel Like A Woman part. It didn't come out as very funny to me(most likely because it's the exact same as a commercial that came out here which was played ad infinitum).

I noticed something peculiar - in this thread, the opinions rolling in are unanimously positive, while the opinions in the Filmmaking forum are decidedly more negative.

Am I missing something here?

You bet. And since I'm so, just such a great guy, I'll fill you in. No need to thank me. ;)
Well I read some of this, but the humor is too. . . not smart, not clever, it's just off-the-wall stuff thrown in for no reason. I mean, x wants to make an off-the-wall comedy with a serious story. He wants to spoof the werewolf genre without spoofing any werewolf movies/werewolf scenes (yes, that's his 'new thing in the parody/werewolf genre'). Let that sink in. I mean, that just doesn't gel. I know it's nice to try something different, but this won't work.
Hell, look at the start. He's spoofing opening narrations/VOs, right? Or trying to. So I suggested elsewhere (not in this thread) trying to see some more movies with narration, with VOs, getting more accustomed to those scenes so he could better spoof them, but he didn't want to, because he's not spoofing anything. Let that sink in too.
It's a spoof that's too stupid to realize it's spoofing something.

. . . and humor is subjective.

Oh we've discussed this, and he's agreed that I am - as usual - right, after I explained that intelligence in off-the-wall comedy comes only from spoofing things, whether they be, scenes, commercials, outlooks, reactions, gender, doesn't matter (like look at family guy).
He's since abandoned the project.

I kick ass.

You must have thrown your head back and laughed heartily in malicious victory when he made that announcement, am I right?

:D

Btw...Did you read my Biohazard scripts? If so, I'd like to see you tear down my impenetrable wall of awesomeness.

Bwah. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Ha.

Actually, I had them on the computer before I. . . erased everything (people keep sending me viruses). But since I'm here I'm downloading them again. I'll read them tonight (well, it might be morning by then technically). Or, read one.

But to spoof off-the-wall you have to recognize you're spoofing, right? There's no other basis for off-the-wall humor. Smart comedy is a little different, as it's usually word-play, but off the wall stuff . . . I'll put it in terms you can understand:
" Oh no!"
" Oh no!"
" Oh no!"
"Oh yeah!"

"Stupid? Yes. Idiotic? Yes." *silence*

"But it only had one previous owner!. . . james bond!"

"You gotta give up the toad now!"

Oh, it most certainly appears you're in the right on this one. I was just asking you a question that seemed strangely appropriate. Call it "instinct", or call it that tingly feeling we get in the cockles of our heart. Or maybe in the sub-cockle area. Maybe in the liver. Maybe even in the colon. We don't know.

But it's there.

I'd like to see a full script of this, X.

I'd like to see a full script of this, X. Thanks for the interest, but I'd really forget about that. When I began this script I wasn't really being serious about it. Or at least I wasn't taking the script seriously (that meaning that I didn't have any future plans for it) and since I have some more important work on the 'to do' list, I don't think I'll be giving this script a second more of work. Thanks for the props though.

Joblo.com note: x-nightcrawler- may or may not have abandoned the project The fuck are you talking about? I never agreed that you were right. If once I haven't, it's this time. I agreed that you didn't understand what I meant with "not spoofing", but you were doing with the "can't hear you."

I just realized that C-Desecration- is banned . . . and that he won't be reading that.

Still, I hadn't read this particular bit, and I wanted to make point clear that I hadn't given you the "you're right." Doesn't really matter though, I did abandon the idea.

I read it and thought it was pretty good. I think you shouldn't drop the project at all. Don't let people crush what you want to do. If they have constructive criticisms then take them on board and improve but don't let that stop you from continuing with your project.

Good luck in this and other future projects.

Good luck in this and other future projects. Thanks, but -as I stated before- I didn't stop because I was so crushed. It's just that I have priorities and a parody ain't one. Still, thank you.
