Come on, alright, so last week I was on vacation in another state, I come home to find all my friends, my brother, even my mom and her friends talking about The Pacifier. I expected only my brother to say "it was awesome" but to my surprise, EVERYBODY is saying "it's hilarious," "it's great." Now I've yet to see the movie (I will eventually), but what would be so great about it. It's a little kiddie comedy. I swear, some people should get some better taste. I tried to watch Chasing Amy with my brother and he was like "noo! That movie looks so bad!!" But then he says The Pacifier was great ...

I think it is an elaborate prank by your family and friends trying to get you to waste your money.

I'm kind of the same way I look at the pacifier and it looks like shit I've seen enough movies in my lifetime that look exactly like that film you kind of have a feeling what it's going to be like.My parents were taking my brother the other night to the movies and no lie my parents and brother said"Let's go see the Pacifier it looked hilarious".They don't watch alot of movies where as myself I watch movies by the boat load and I've seen many films just like this film.I can't speak for you but I'm pretty sure you have seen tons of movies and kind of know what to expect as maybe your family don't watch alot of movies to say i've seen this before in another movie and would find it funny. That's how I am and feel.

Yeah tell me about it. Can you believe there are people out there that don't consider Day of the dead the best movie ever made? Crazy world were living in.:D

Yeah, people are always trying to get me to waste my money by buying "car insurance," whatever the hell that is. So when I hit people with my car, I just drive away and leave em' there.

I think I may have seen this movie before....

I think it was called Kindergarten Cop back when Arnold did it and then there was Suburban Commando that starred the Hulkster and most recently there was a flick with that rapper guy Ice Cream Cone or whatever his name is.

Insert action movie star into a domestic situation caring for children, hilarity ensues. The list is endless.

Oh, and your taste is so refined because....?

Just because someone liked a kid's movie and you didn't doesn't mean that either of you have a better taste than the other's.

Hell, I love Finding Nemo and Shrek...but I also love The Godfather and Pulp Fiction.

Just watch MR. NANNY or KINDERGARTEN COP and imagine Vin Diesel in the main role. Save your six bucks.

You could probably say that 90% of what Hollywood puts out is unoriginal. Doesn't mean that it can't be entertaining.

That's what I thought.

And I actually think The Pacifier looks pretty funny.

Oh and Hakari there is a flaw to your theory: Mr. Nanny is shit and Kindergarden Cop isn't!

Wammo. The Pacifier was nothing I'd buy on DVD and watch on my free time, but if my nephew wanted to watch it, I really wouldnt mind. So, Its a kids flick thats really only worth seeing if you're say, eight.

This is true. THE PACIFIER is safely set on the middle ground separating these two; part complete and utter drivel, part "Ehh, it's okay."

So some people like a movie you haven't even seen, and THEY'RE the ones with the problem?

You think you're family has bad taste? My dad; who LOVED Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever, watched 40 minutes of Kill Bill Vol. 1 and turned it off because it was... and I quote "stupid cartoon shit". Now I know not everyone likes Kill Bill, but when you'd rather watch a made for TV movie on the Sci-Fi channel (I'm talking about Raptor fucking Island), you have bad taste in movies. My dad loved Raptor Island too BTW. My brother is just as bad. He refuses to watch any of the 3 movies I have listed as my favorite because... and I quote again "There's no one good in them and they're too long. No Arnold Schwatzanegger, Sylvestor Stallone, Burt Reynolds, or Patrick Swayze". And this too coming from someone who loved LXG, the Hulk, Raptor Island (I don't know what it is with them and that shit), Fat Albert, etc. It's horrible. :(

Damn I think we have the same dad's.

My dad loves those made for TV movies on Sci-fi, and when I had Kill Bill Vol. 1 on (although he was tired and was falling asleep) he was like what the hell is going on. And he went upstairs.

I can't stand Vin Diesel , so I won't be seeing this unless I'm tied, gagged and dragged to the theater...

I'm glad that you liked it Moviefan. It can't be any worse than the movie "The Stupids"...

I thought it looked like crap too. I was dragged to it by my gf and I ended up liking it. I honestly can't wait for The Pacifier 2!

I've been getting that kind of shit a lot recently too. As well as:

"Dude, get Without a Paddle. You need that movie. It's hilarious."

"Dude, let's get Alien vs. Predator. Best movie ever."

I'll be homicidal by the time I start hearing shit at school about the Ring Two.

Perhaps people simply cannot enjoy classic/well-made movies because they do not want to take the time to understand them. I know a lot of people that say "Ehh Fight Club is an OK movie...I really like the cool gore and stuff, but it got too messed up for me in the end...yada yada." It's like they have absolutely no desire to put forth the effort neccessary to FULLY enjoy these great films! "Oh, that's kinda confusing. I don't get it. Therefore, it sucks. Yeah, the whole movie's not so great anymore....now this Pacifier stuff! This is great! I don't have to work at all to get any of the 4th grade level jokes! This is my kinda film!"

Sadly, this is the world around us. People are stupid, and therefore, Hollywood will continue to make stupid movies to appease the idiots. I have a friend (not the brightest kid in the world) who insists Guess Who is the funniest movie he has ever seen. I really wanna hang myself when he tells me he doesn't get the importance of American Beauty.

Ah, shucks. Don't worry, man. It'll fix itself and get better as time heals these wounds..

When you move out, and go off to college, get a job, a wife -- One day your mom will look back and maybe for a moment, while looking at old pictures of you -- She will realize that maybe The Pacifier wasn't that good of a movie. Then you'll be like "I OWN YOU BITCH!!!"

In the meantime, I highly suggest you look for another way to rebel or distance yourself from your family. This different tastes in movies thing isn't all it may seem cracked up to be.

Good entertainment, definitely. Great material for unintelligent youths to gush over.

The directing, however, sucks. If you want to watch this movie, watch it with a pure popcorn heart. If you watch movies with a critic's air, then give it a miss because it'll just increase your high blood pressure. Plus take away a few dollars, I might add, which you could have used to buy a good burger.
