Boyle's done some good stuff in the past, curious to see how he handles a family film like this one.

Just saw this today, here's my take on it:
This movie's about a couple of English brothers, who basically find thousands of british pounds (dollars) in a duffel bag that falls literally out of the sky.... The youngest boy and the main character of the movie Damian thinks it's from God, since his mother had died.... He then puts the money to good use by taking homeless people to Pizza Hut, donating it to poor Mormon's, and other charitable ways.... He also see several saints from the past in his imagination, who he's been studying, which was his movtivation for doing his good deeds.... Eventually all is explained as to how the boys found this huge amount of money, and the story unfolds from there....
Danny Boyle made a COMPLETELY different movie yet again this time, totally different than 28 Days Later or Trainspotting... He has very imaginative visuals throughout the film, and it's basically a Family Film, but people of all ages I think can really enjoy this one! I recommend this to anyone who likes fantastical and creative movies! :)

My favorite film of the year thus far, even after seeing "Sin City," "Millions" has my 'favorite' vote. Never failing to provoke the imagination and never falling into a sugary pit, this movie is gonna become a classic, and a mighty underappreciated one at that. (9.5/10)

i will never get myself to see this one in theatres albeit it got pretty decent reviews , that little british? boy saying "brilliant" and looking like he's going under electrocompulsive therapy in a cardboard box just angers me everytime. and they always play that cliché MPAA song in the trailer . i doubt i'll muster any umph to even rent it.

"Millions"- B+
"Millions" is the story of two young brothers who move to an affluent community in England with their father after their mother dies. One day, the younger of the two- Damien, who has a vivid imagination where he talks to saints (and believes his mother has become one)- is making a cardboard sanctuary next to the railroad tracks near their house when a gym bag full of money seems to fall from the sky. The only person he tells about it is his brother. Set around the time England switched from the Pound to the Euro, his brother wants to spend the money, while Damien wants to help people with it, which he finds is harder than he originally thought. "Millions" is- at its' heart- a morality tale on greed and what happens when the best of intentions meets reality, and on that level, director Danny Boyle (a decidedly odd choice given the gritty "Trainspotting" and "28 Days Later," but one that pays off stylistically and intelligently) and his collaborators (especially writer Frank Cottrell Boyce, composer John Murphy, and a cast that's headed by the young and wonderful Alexander Nathan Etel as Damien) pull it off beautifully without getting too sickly sentimental and preachy. But there are times the film can't avoid preachiness and sentimentality (the scene with Damien and his saintly can't-do-wrong mum is well-written, but too "too good to be true" to be believably honest), and- in the film's biggest misstep- a subplot with the real owner of the money is too obvious and calculated to generate any real drama. If it had just focused in on the dillemma of Damien and his family, and didn't follow the real reason the money fell into Damien's lap, the film would have been better. Instead, it skirts the type of sappy "holier-than-thou" sentiment that made "Pay It Forward" so insufferable to so many people. No matter, "Millions" still rewards its' audience with intelligence and interest (it still goes places most family-friendly films never go). In other words, it still has the mark of a filmmaker eager to surprise, but never obvious about how he wants to do it.
