Man,

Tony Scott really knows how to make a movie. I absolutely loved Man on Fire and True Romance. I always liked his movies but somehow I forgot about Domino, what with Sin City floating around, but then I saw the trailer and this has easily made its way to my most anticipated movies for 2005. This looks excellent, great sense of style reminding me of Man on Fire and plus Roarke, Knightly and Walken look excellent at what they're doing.

Props to Tony Scott, the guy keeps swingin like a pro.

After last year's Man on Fire, I knew I couldn't wait for Tony Scott's next, and this certainly looks like it might live up to my high expectations. The flick looks highly stylized, loud, and kick ass, and with Rourke and Walken lending their support to Ms. Knightley, it's definitely one of my most anticipated of 2005. Bring it on.

i have faith in tony, and that's a pretty impressive looking cast, loved the bit with Lucy Liu

Tony Scott's uneven at best but this looks rather promising to me. Mostly because Richard Kelly wrote it and the cast is indeed quite solid. So I'm moderatly excited about it, having not yet seen the trailer.

That trailer was unique and definitely got my attention. I'm for sure looking forward to this even more...

While I do like Tony Scott's stylistic devices, I found he went completely overboard with Man on Fire (6/10), a decent movie that would've been great if he didn't do random flashy devices every two seconds for no point than to just do them. I mean, there were some great stylistic choices he made in that movie for sure, but the extent to which it was stylized was a little extreme and didn't really allow me to connect with the film as much. Also, the overuse of devices (like 20 seconds of flashing back and forth between images randomly all the time) made the movie drag even more so that it felt like three hours when it was only two hours and twenty minutes long.

If that movie had cut out 20 minutes or so (taking along with a lot of the excess style), I think it would've been a solid 8/10.

In any case though, I'm hoping with this film he will tone it down a bit...like I said, dont' get me wrong - I like the things he does. Just that doing it every 10 seconds gets annoying after a while.

But yeah, it looks great so far -> Richard Kelly writing the script gives me even more faith in it despite only one film to his credit so far. But this will be the first test of whether he is a one-hit wonder or not - though I would seriously doubt that is the case. I can't wait for his Southland Tales...

But also with Keira Knightley and the solid cast, this is for sure a film I am interested in.

What's Knightley's character's name again? And what does she do?

:D

This movie does look very cool. You can totally see the whole Man on Fire look to it. Knightly is a very impressive actress and she's being back up by a large group of talent. Really liked the trailer and I'm looking forward to it.

And JoBlo couldn't have said it better: she is definitly Domino Harvey and is very much a bounty hunter :) THAT got a little annoying... but whatever

That's what worries me. It seems to me that ever since Spy Game, Tony Scott gets progressively worse and worse as a director. He completely butchered Man on Fire. That would have been an excellent revenge thriller had he not fucked it up with his headache inducing and earsplitting directing/editing choices. And it looks like he'll do the same with this movie.

I'll pretty much see anything that has Keira Knightley in it, but this does look like a pretty sweet movie. I like the style it's going for, and it's an effective trailer. Great cast too.

She is also riding a mechanical bull earlier if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like "Man on Fire" on speed and acid.

I don't know, Man on Fire was decent, but I thought the flashy stuff was waaaaaay overused. Hopefully he doesn't do that again.

Well, I'm not a fan of Kelly at all, I hate Darko. The main selling points for me are the cast and Scott.

Ditto. And I was even more excited when I heard Domino shows her ass in the flick...and then the excitement fell when I heard Keira Knightley say in an interview that she chickened out from it and cast a butt double (even though she was actually pretty funny about the whole "casting" process, and how she was auditioning asses looking for the butt that could most believably portray her butt).

Ah, well. At least we have THE JACKET. ;)

Wow, great cast, Keira Knightley with two machine guns,.....this can't really go wrong.

It should be called WoMAN on Fire.

It looks exactly the same... not that there's anything wrong with that. I do find it odd how Tony Scott's style has changed over the years to his super-flashy-edit style now. It's as if he is impersinating all the music video/commercial hack directors who made their careers by impersinating him. Ever see Beat the Devil? (BMW Film) Same thing.

It needs a Gene Simmons cameo. "They call her, Domino! Domino....Domino!" ...yeah I'm a Kiss fan, so what.

I saw MAN ON FIRE again. And you know what?

I'm starting to hate Scott's new directing visual style, with the jumps and shakiness and all that shit. It was all right watching MAN ON FIRE the first time, and at some points, it's actually pretty cool, but I think it's overdone, and most of the time, completely uncalled for. I think its over-use actually takes quality away from the movie by making it look like a cheap music video.

It doesn't look too bad in the DOMINO trailer, but it's just a trailer. If it's only kept to a few shots, as a style effect, fine. But if it's all over the movie, then I think I might just have to be pissed at mister Scott.

you see, I'm in the opposite camp.

I think I'm really beginning to like Scott.

Yes - sometime he overdoes it. But the fact that he is developing a real auteur style for these movies that would likely end up as run of the mill hollywood pulp is pretty cool.

I'll definitely see Domino

You know what, I think that style has to do with Creasy's character in MAN ON FIRE. Of course, this is my opinion, so you can disagree, but next time you watch it, notice that when Creasy is all drunk, with nothing to live for, etc. the use of those shaky shots and flash edits are abundant. However, as Pita becomes more important to his life, it gives him some stability, up the point to where those edits stop completely. That is, until he loses her again, and then he's rampaging once again, as is the camera work. I thought it was a genious move by Scott, and I was hoping more people would share this opinion with me, because I thought it was a purposeful choice by the director, not something just to "look cool," although it accomplished that as well.

Even if that's true it made the movie unwatchable at times.

And besides, it got so ridiculous especially when they even had subtitles when THEY WERE SPEAKING ENGLISH!

To say it was OVERDONE would be a TOTAL understatement!

And this movie looks like it's made with the same style. That alone makes me think I'm not going to like it.

What happened to Tony Scott. He use to be a pretty solid director with movies like The Last Boyscout and Crimson Tide. Now he's destroying his movies with his new "style", if you want to call it that. It started with Spy Game, though it wasn't THAT bad with that movie (though that movie had other problems) and it's gotten worse with Man on Fire. And Domino looks like it's continuing this dreadful pattern.
