I thought that was reserved for bands that are big (well, in America). I think they are a New York band, so they could have been replacement acts...

I thought they were from SF because they got from the Bay Area at a well known club here.....

They're probably from where you think they're from Border. For some reason, I assumed they were from New York.

I believe they are from the UK - They were SPECTACULAR on SNL... Colin Farrel was the host

Definatly aren't a UK band... seeing how they won best International Band, Album, and Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards... Seems odd to have a UK band winning international awards....

but I can understand how people can think they are british seeing how they are pretty big in the UK, and they are 'flamboyant' like lots of british bands..

anywho, I'm not sure about each members orgins but they are infact considered a New York band, as thats where they got their start.
