View Full Version : Keira Knightley couldn't act her way out of a match-box.
As H-O-T as this girl may be, as much as I'd like to do the horizontal tango with her, she simply cannot act.
At best she's throughly mediochre
She's hot, and anybody with a willy, (and maybe a vagina, if you're that way inclined) will see her films, but she's simply got this one-note kind of in-experienced way about her.
I've just finished watching the utterly shit DOMINO trailer and felt like turning it the fuck off after about 30 seconds "Domino Harvey...blah blah blah...Domino Harvey...blah blah...etc. She has no range at all.
She was fairly good in Pirates of the Caribbean and Bend It Like Beckham, but when she seems stretched as an actress (which she certainly wasn't in those films) she comes across as weak. Very weak.
Maybe I am being harsh becuase that Domino trailer pissed me off so much, but surely someone out there must agree with me?
I have nothing against the girl at all, like I said, she appears to be a very nice person with a lovely set of ....shoes, and The Jacket does look intruiging, but she's exactly what's wrong with films these days - Shit actors hyped up in roles they shouldn't be playing, for stupid fees, and a performance that equals that of a plank of wood.

She's definitely not a great actress, but there's way worse out there. I've seen BECKHAM, I've seen PIRATES, I've seen KING ARTHUR, and even if it's true that I've never been blown away by her, she's never failed to do the job either.
Granted, the DOMINO trailer is only half decent, and the voice over is annoying. But I'm willing to give her a shot, given that a) she's never actually disappointed me yet, even though she hasn't exactly done anything that challenging up to this point, b) she sounds like a charming young woman, and c) she's hot as all hell.

Haven't seen the domino trailer, but some directors just can't work with actors. Keira's been fortunate enough to work with some extremely talented directors. The movies you listed definately weren't poor performances.
Coincidentally or not, two movies you didn't mention, The Hole and Love Actually, I thought she was fantastic in.
And why post a fake nude pic that makes her look like a character out of a "big-head code" videogame when there are real nude pics of her? Or hell, just a normal picture of her looking hot?

Fuck, how could I forget LOVE ACTUALLY? Keira is stunning in it. Of course, the part just calls for her to be a nice, charming, a little confused British woman, and that's not exactly RAGING BULL-esque, but she's fantastic in it.

Both actually, well kind of.
Keira was 15 and turned 16 during the filming of this movie, so, since the scene where she flashes is towards the end of the film(Unlike most film productions, the scenes for this movie were shot in order), she would have already turned 16, which is the legal age of consent in Britain (where the film was shot).

Has she ever given a bad performance? No to that one as well.
She's never given a GREAT performance but that's because she hasn't really had the opportunity yet. She hasn't had a role yet that requires her to be great. But I do think she has it in her. She's been really good in Bend it Like Beckham, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Jacket. Those are really good, really solid performances. But I'm sure she has greatness in her. And maybe hopefully she'll show that soon.

Also -- this girl is just, what, just a few days into 20 years old? And her first main part came, what, three, four years ago?
I tend to think that acting is like everything -- some people have more talent, and some people are more instinctive, and some people get better faster and younger, but it's a craft, and it takes years and experience and work to develop the skill to nail GREAT performances. For someone who's only been a main header for three or four years, and who's not even old enough to legally drink in the US yet, I'd say Keira's doing pretty good with the parts that are given to her. If you want greater performances, I say she might just dish 'em out, let's just give her time. And the parts that fit.

I find this extremely hard to believe, but a friend just told me that Keira's father is still her manager and the two pick projects together.

I always thought the scene in PotC where she is holding the medallion over the water and pretends to drop it and the pirates all gasp and she gets this look on her face like "fuckin thought so".....I always thought she was great there.

It's not like she's...say, Angelina Jolie, who couldn't act to save her life...or Julia Roberts, who continues to play...um...Julia Roberts...in every film she's in. She has more potential than that. A lot more. I saw it in films such as BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM and PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN. I think she does a reasonable job. And I think she will only improve.
