The object of the thread is pretty simple, put villians from Spider-man and who you would like to play 'em. If this has been done before, I am very sorry. Note: This doesn't have to mean WHO you want to see in the next movie, just cast who you think is perfect.

Here's my list:

Kraven: Oded Fehr (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004912/) - He's got the look (see pictures of him from the Mummy), he's got an accent (he's accents changed with each version of him, hell even in the Ultimate version he was Australian.), and I think he'd be perfect if he just beefed up a lot.

Rhino: Paul Wight (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0927833/) A.K.A. The Big Show (http://www.gosh.org/news/celebrity/sport/images/Big-Show-lrg.jpg) - Yes, I know he's a wrestler (I like wrestling), but I think he has the perfect size and stature for the enormous Rhino. 7'2', nearly 500lbs. He doesn't have to act smart, Rhino was never the sharpest tool in the shed. He just needs to act dumb, that isn't too hard, even for a wrestler.

Electro: Kevin bacon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000102/) - I don't know why, but I believe he has the talent and the physique to play Max Dillion. And after Hollow Man, I have no doubt of the man's abilitys to portray a villian with godlike powers. "It's amazing what you can do once you don't have to look at yourself in the morning..."

Venom: Joaquin Phoenix (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001618/) - I've seen quiet a few of his movies (The Village, Gladiator, Ladder 49, Signs, 8mm) and I believe he has quite enough range to fulfill a position like this. When watching Ladder 49 the other night, it dawned on me that his face sort of reminds me of a bigger Tobey Maguire. (Just a little bit, not a whole lot.) Which works perfect for Eddie Brock, since Venom is the evil Spider-man. He also looked pretty beefed up in Ladder, and he could beef up more for this role if he wanted to.

Carnage: Jake Busey (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000998/) - Just like his dad this man can play a psycho... The Frighteners, anyone?

Vulture: Ben Kingsley (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001426/) - What can I say? He looks perfect! He's veteran actor and could easily pull this off!

Mysterio: Bruce Cambell (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0132257/) - I know, I know. Yes, he did play the ring announcer who gave Spidey his name in Spider-man, and yes he was the snooty usher in Spider-man 2, but I think he is perfect for this role. Who better to portray a washed up B-movie actor/Effects Designer than the BEST B-movie actor in the entire freakin' planet? Besides... If you recall the line: "It helps maintain the illusion..."

So what do you think?

I can't remember the name of the doctor from the cartoons that turns into a Crocodile/Aligator man but I'd love to see him played by Denzel Washington. :D

Dr. Conners, and he was already casted in Spider-man 2 by Dylan Baker. But a good choice, though. He'd have been a good Conners too.

I like your casting LordSimen.

Never thought of Joaquin Phoenix as Eddie Brock. But I agree with you. He does look like a little bit like Tobey. And Venom is essentially the evil version of Spidey. So yeah, I could see him in the role. And he would probably be fucking great actually.

Good stuff LordSimen.

Back when James Cameron was attached to direct Spider-Man, I was really hoping he would cast Arnold Schwarzenegger as Otto Octavious. This was pre-Mr Freeze mind you, but I still think he would've made a kickass Doc Ock. Molina was excellent though.

Dafoe was perfect as Norman Osbourne, hell, he looks like the Green Goblin WITHOUT a mask on. The suit screwed him out of being THE Green Goblin though. James Franco is an excellent Harry Osbourne despite the distraction of being James Dean's doppleganger.

Brock Lesnar would make a great Eddie Brock and Bill Goldberg would make a great Rhino, but neither one can act their way out of a paper bag, which would be a problem for Venom, but not so much for Rhino.

Bruce Campbell, the B-Movie Demi-God, could play any B-class spidey villain, including , Elektro, Mysterio, the Lizard, the Scorpion, the Shocker, the Chamaleon and even Kraven the Hunter. In fact, I think he could pull off a couple of A-class villains and play the Hobgoblin and, if his hair was dyed red, Cletus Kassidy, aka Carnage.

The Vulture could be played to perfection by Ben Kingsley, but I doubt we'd ever see it.

For the record, I hate both Hydroman and Sandman and refuse to cast them even as a bit of fun in a forum. Obviously, I'm not at all pleased with the rumours about Thomas Haden Church playing him. In fact I'm bitter damn it.

Having said that, I will trust Sam Raimi's judgement because he has delivered two beautifully crafted movies thus far.

Cool thread LordSimen, that was fun.

Yeah, I remember that rumor about Arnold Schwarzenegger as Doc Ock during the Cameron days. Would have been interesting I guess, if they decided on going with a buff Ock. Originally, he was drawn as very stocky. But there have been some instances where he has been drawn to look like as if he picked up some weights to pass the time in prison. So yeah, it would have been interesting. Not sure if it would have been a good call though. But when you team Cameron and Arnold up, they never fail to impress.
Not sure if this would one of those cases though. Still, interesting. :)

Brock Lesner definately has the look more than Church does. But as you said, his acting skills sucks huge floppy donkey balls. So that wouldnt work.
Actually waaay back in '94, in an issue of WIZARD, they casted Howie Long as Eddie Brock. Which I didnt think was bad. But then again, I was only going on the look. His acting skills are alright at best. So no there as well.

Goldberg would be alright for Rhino. But I honestly thought he was going to be in HULK and was expecting him to play the Absorbing Man. I remember reading on a few wrestling websites that he was indeed in talks of appearing in HULK. But somehow I guess Universal decided on making Banner's father the Absorbing Man. So Goldberg's services were no longer required I suppose.
Personally, I think Goldberg would have been good as the Absorbing Man. It certainly wouldnt have required superb acting ability since the character himself was about as dumb as Rhino. That changed a few years ago though. When he became able to absorb minds as well....

I have to say that I really like the idea of Joaquin Phoenix as Eddie Brock. As well as Bruce Cambell as Mysterio. Reasons for Phoenix I mentioned in a previous post, but I think Bruce would really shine as Mysterio. Never really thought about it, but the more I do. The more I like it. Mysterio is great at a mind fuck. And by seeing Cambell in the previous Spider-Man films, that alone would be something of a mind fuck as well.
Was he playing different character's? Or was he really Beck and was fucking with Spider-Man simply because he could?
Because we all know, if theres one thing Mysterio loves doing. It's fucking with Spidey's head. :D

I mean, I thought I would throw my hat in the Spidey villian casting thread, but LordSimen's casting is just brilliant.
Right on man.
