I don't put much stock into net rumors, but being as this one was confirmed by one of the Chiodo's (The directors) I figured I'd spread the word.

About a month ago the Chiodo's met with MGM heads about a sequel and MGM seemed interested, so much that they asked the Chiodo's to return with a proposed script. So according to Stephen Chiodo, they will be going back with a script next month to see if MGM is willing to give it a go.

Personally, while I love part one and have been wishing for a sequel since it's 88' release, I'm kinda worried now. Alot of time has passed, and a sequel may not live up to the first flicks cult status. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I know that a sequel won't meet expectations, but damn it, I want to see it anyway. It could drum up decent business, what with the action figures coming out soon and the original's cult status snowballing thanks to MGM's superb DVD.

I'll venture to say these Chiodo guys broke new ground with the terrific KKFOS ( wouldn't be surprised if they influenced Weta with their forced perspective genius and brilliant use of miniatures / bigatures ) . It's still one of the best low budget " independent " films ever made , and it's wondrously inventive in so many ways .

I definitely want to see what these guys can conjure up with more modern technology , especially since they have had time to develop their skill and talent . They did some work on that puppet film by by the creators of South Park , and that looked great .

This could / should be something special , i want to see it and have been waiting a long time for it .

I'm not going to hold my breath. We've been hearing rumors galore about KKFOS2 for years. I wish it were true, but I'm not counting on it.

Unlike most rumors, this one actually has concrete info behind it - i.e. the Chido brothers meeting with the studio and such.
So.........who knows, maybe this might actually happen eventually.

JayWolf is right when he says this has been rumored for years........but just remember, so was "Freddy VS. Jason", and personally, I thought that would NEVER happen. So I guess what i`m saying is "never say never".:)

Yeah, but even then, it was The Chiodo Bros talking about it. I would like to believe it was happening but at this point, I need more than "we're going to meet with the studio heads" at this point. This is what we've been hearing forever.

You are right Jaywolf, theyve been saying that they are meeting with the studio heads over at MGM for years now! In fact they even said it on the DVD extras and this was like years ago!

I do hope it gets a greenlight though, it would be awesome to see what they could do. Specially now that they have more experience and recognition...

Oh, PLEASE let this happen! KKFOS is one of my all time favorite cheesy movies - the effects were particularly impressive considering the shoestring budget. I'd love to see another go around, but given how long ago the original came out, it would probably do better business if it was released as a "re-imagined" version instead of a sequel.

Thats true. It would make more sense for the studio to want to make a "re-imaged" remake than a sequel. I mean with all the remakes coming out these days, why not a KKFOS remake?

Been awhile since I've seen that movie. Might have to go pick it up at Wal-Mart if it's even still there...
