View Full Version : F*** Revolution Studios!

In the past few years, we've certainly dealt with a wealth of horrible movies being churned out by the Hollywood machine. No other studio, however, is as responsible for this new trend as Revolution. Please take a gander at the following films that this wonderful production company has created:

-13 Going on 30
-America's Sweethearts
-Anger Management
-The Animal
-Are We There Yet?
-Christmas with the Kranks
-Daddy Day Care
-The Forgotten
-Hollywood Homicide
-Little Black Book
-Maid in Manhattan
-Man of the House
-The Master of Disguise
-Mona Lisa Smile
-The New Guy
-Radio
-Tomcats
-White Chicks
-xXx

Now I really want you to look at that list of films (culled from IMDb.com). Many of these are the worst films of their respective years, filled with terrible writing, subpar acting, and cheap quality production.

I want this sorry excuse for a studio shut down ASAP!

Did you see all of those?

I haven't but Anger Management was so-so (maybe 5/10) and lots of people likes 13 going on 30 (Mostly teen girls....)

It's a new studio just starting up. They are definately going for the comedy thing. Isn't this studio connected to Sandler through his Happy Madison studio? I'm not sure. Either way, i don't see what the big deal is. I'd rather have a place liek this throwing out garbage than more of those Ivory/Merchant type studios.

They're obviously leaning towards more family oriented films. They must not be too bad when you look at that list and the actors they've gotten.

On the bright side they've done Black Hawk Down and Hannibal (not an invitation to start a Hannibal vs. SOTL arguement). :)

Oh yeah, didn't Revolution do Fast and the Furious also? The 1st one was original and cool, a nice look into the undergound sport compact scene. The second one? Absolute fuckin monkey jizz. And this is coming from someone who is in that same hobby of racing sport compacts.

Tomcats was a good movie to sit and watch with your buddies and Hannibal was a great sequel to Silence of the Lambs. I just hope they stop releasing bad Rob Snider movies.

Actually, guys, Revolution Studios had absolutely nothing to do with either Hannibal (distributed by MGM) or Fast and the Furious (Universal). Revolution is actually kind of an off-shoot of Columbia Pictures, started by Joe Roth after the Disney debacle.

Personally, I've hated them ever since I was suckered into paying to see The One back in 2001. Their very first film, Tomcats, was definitely a sign of the shit to come.

However, they did release Hellboy, so they can't be all that bad, can they?

The answer is yes.

13 Going on 30 - Had high hopes on this but in the end I HATED THIS MOVIE!!!!!! Makes ya wanna watch Big w/ Tom Hanks to erase what you just witnessed....

-America's Sweethearts - I actually liked this one....

-Anger Management - The pairing of Sandler & Nicholson is odd but was a likeable laugh riot from begining to end...

-The Animal - I have yet to see this and I dunno if I want to...

-Are We There Yet? - Have not seen this and may look for this at my public library...

-Christmas with the Kranks - See Above Response

-Daddy Day Care - Was kinda disapointed w/ this flick.... Murphy misses the mark again here...

-The Forgotten - This thriller was a wee bit odd and left MANY MANY unanswered questions.... The title pretty much says it all after watching this very confusing flick...

-Hollywood Homicide - This movie roaylly SUCKS!!!!! Ford & Hartnett is definately nooooooo Gibson & Glover popularized from the Lethal Weapon Movies..... I can see why these 2 did not get along personally from what I heard.....

-Little Black Book - The primary plot of Murphy's finding out the her current beau has a past and did not bother to mention it to her could have been somethin but falls badly apart into the movie.... I do credit that the finale finally heats up but was too late to save the flick I say....

-Maid in Manhattan - Ok movie, nuthin special.... Was odd seein Ralph Fiennes ham it up in a comedy..... Bob Hoskins & Amy Sedaris featured stole the show IMO...

-Man of the House - Have not seen this yet....

-The Master of Disguise - Was pretty funny but movie is an overall mess.... The line Carrey says to Spiner and what he wants him to do handwise was the highlight of the movie....

-Mona Lisa Smile - Yaaaaaawn!!!!!

-The New Guy - If the short brief and I do mean brief apperance of QE4TSG's Jai Rodriguez was not in this I would have not bothered. But this movie was pretty funny.... Not memorable but was fuckin funny I saay...

-Radio - I dunno, if it wasn't Cuba Gooding Jr. then it would have been an A Ok movie....

-Tomcats - Did NOT like this flick..... A dull and not funny movie....

-White Chicks - Was not a bad flick..... I kinda enjoyed it...

-xXx A likeable wannabe 007 Movie.... I dunno about the upcoming sequel.....yo!

Black Hawk Down (2001)
Hannibal (2006)
Hellboy (2004)
Hellboy 2 (2006)
Missing, The (2003/I)
Peter Pan (2003)
Punch-Drunk Love

...It doesn't look quite so bad if you pick their better movies as examples instead of their worst ones.

Hannibal? And of course, we just don't yet know how the film is going to be, do we now? The same goes with Hellboy 2, as it is rather useless to pick films that we haven't seen just yet. But of course, if you have seen them, then I am not the one to correct you. And as for really liking the films we all have had the chance to see from that list, Punch-Drunk Love is my only choice. So yes, Revolution hasn't been making that well lately, and the smaller films have delivered with much more potential than the "bigger" films. So I'm not waiting too much of Hannibal just now.

RE:

My mistake, I thought it was the Ridley Scott's Hannibal. I didn't check the year of making.

It remains to be seen how good Hellboy 2 will be, but I know that many members of this board liked the first one and will welcome the 2nd one. It's made by the same cast and crew, so there is already an affection towards it.

Any film studio can be made to look like shit if we pick just their worst films.

In that case it makes more sense. But your point is clear, and I agree.

As for Hellboy 2, yes, here it is more than welcomed from what I see.

Wow. Aside from punch drunk love, this studio hasn't made a single movie that I've either liked or had any interest in watching at all.

It really looks like this company produces some real beatoff material.

The films they put out make money for the studio and thats all that matters.
