School holidays are in full force and so ROBOTS didn't suffer much of a fall in its second week, maintaining hold at #1. The Ewan McGregor voiced outing only sloped 22% and saw an additional $1,952,920 added to its total, which sits at $6,208,638 (US $71,387,838). Also holding onto their respective #2 and #3 spots from last week were MISS CONGENIALITY 2 and THE RING TWO, however they saw considerably bigger drops. The Sandra Bullock sequel a 43% drop but still pulled in a decent $1,364,598, upping the total to $4,947,548 (US $56,887,639), whilst the fear surrounding Samara's second coming lost 54% of its interest to a 2 week accumulation of $3,793,689 (US $43,620,397). Vin Diesel's diaper duty in THE PACIFIER was added to a further 9 screens and saw a 12% increase over the weekend, making the most of the school holiday period. It is now sitting at a rather healthy $2,431,115 (US $27,953,320). Just outside the Top 5 first week in was Laurence Fishburne and Ethan Hawke whose ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 scored them $590,939 (US $6,794,704), considerably similar to its opening in the US. After its surprising Top 10 debut last week, LADIES IN LAVENDER continues to shock with an 8% rise to hold at #7. After two weeks the Maggie Smith/Judi Dench outing has managed $823,280 (US $9,466,195). After its debut outside the Top 20 last week, SON OF THE MASK has, unfortunately, managed to climb it way up, this week sitting at #14. It's screen count was doubled (from 43 to 87) as it opened in more cities across Australia, and it can so far call $207,643 (US $2,387,509) its own. Far from a good total, but its still more than it deserves. Still holding out after 6 weeks in play, but steadily declining is Keanu Reeves in CONSTANTINE. The supernatural thriller has rounded up a neat $7,435,511 (US $85,494,605), making it Reeves' 8th Highest Grossing film in Australia, sitting slightly behind Point Break ($7.6 Million) and Bram Stoker's Dracula ($8.1 Million). The acclaimed drama MARIA FULL OF GRACE saw a 23% increase as the good word spread, and has now $245,168 (US $2,818,977) to its name.
THIS WEEK (April 7th): Matthew McConaughey is the new name in adventure; Ashton comes to Bernie; and Ewan bares all.
