I've been listening to a lot of Henry Rollins lately. Not Black Flag (though Black Flag were fucking cool). Not The Henry Rollins Band (though The Henry Rollins Band are fucking cool). Not his collaboration with The Shat on his recent album (though his collaboration with The Shat is fucking cool). I've been listening instead to a lot of Henry Rollins spoken word recordings. He is a funny, clever, articulate motherfucker and at times the closest thing we currently have to a Bill Hicks caliber stand-up comedian. This is some seriously good stuff. He also has a few spoken word DVDs out too. His recent Shock And Awe is first rate stuff. Anyone else a fan of his non-music ventures?

I've always been more of a fan of his spoken word work rather than his music. (Though Black Flag has some seriously decent stuff). Rollins really shines when he reads off his observations.

I too have been a major fan of his spoken word stuff, and not his music. The album he released... I want to say around 92(?) is the one I'm most familiar with.

Also, I've been very guilty of borrowing his line about him and his science partner (He was Chuck D to my Flavor Flav) -- But I always pay props to Rollins, damn well knowing why no one understands why I'm bringing his name up.

I have one of his stand-up shows on VHS, but I've yet to watch it. I've been curious about his spoken word material for awhile now. Rollins Band's Weight was one of the first CD's I ever purchased.
